Job Description
General Assistance:
- Provide support to the team or specific departments by assisting with various tasks as directed by supervisors or team leaders.
- Perform tasks that aid in the smooth operation of daily activities, such as fetching supplies, organizing materials, or assisting in moving items.
Physical Labor:
- Depending on the industry, helpers may be required to lift, carry, or move materials, equipment, or goods.
- Maintain work areas by cleaning, organizing, and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
Inventory Management:
- Help with stocktaking, organizing, and maintaining inventory levels. This could include sorting, labeling, and storing items.
- Assist with unloading deliveries and restocking supplies or products.
Supporting Senior Staff:
- Assist more experienced staff or supervisors with specialized tasks, such as prepping materials, assisting with technical tasks, or running errands within the workplace.
Customer Interaction (if applicable):
- In some settings, such as retail or foodservice, helpers may assist customers by directing them to products, providing basic information, or helping with simple tasks.
Maintenance of Cleanliness and Organization:
- Ensure that work areas, tools, or materials are kept clean and organized. This can include sweeping, mopping, wiping down surfaces, or ensuring the general tidiness of workspaces.
Adherence to Safety Standards:
- Follow safety guidelines and protocols to avoid accidents, injuries, or hazards in the work environment.
- Ensure that equipment is used safely and that any potential issues are reported to supervisors.
Other Duties:
- Perform other tasks as needed based on the specific needs of the organization or team, from administrative tasks to hands-on physical work.
- Experience: Experience is often not required for entry-level helper positions, as training is usually provided. However, prior experience in a similar environment may be preferred.
- Education: Generally, a high school diploma or equivalent is not mandatory but can be beneficial.
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift a certain amount of weight (e.g., 25-50 lbs.) may be required in some industries.
