The Road Roller Operator is responsible for operating a road roller (compactor) to compact soil, gravel, asphalt, or other materials in the construction and maintenance of roads, highways, runways, and other infrastructure projects. The operator ensures safe, efficient, and quality work in accordance with project specifications and safety standards.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Operate road roller to compact and smooth surfaces during road construction and repair projects.
- Inspect and maintain the roller to ensure it is in good working condition (fuel, oil, tires, brakes, etc.).
- Follow construction plans, instructions, and safety regulations.
- Perform pre-operational and post-operational checks of the equipment.
- Report mechanical issues or malfunctions to the supervisor immediately.
- Work with other crew members to achieve desired compaction and surface quality.
- Maintain cleanliness of the equipment and work area.
- Adhere to company policies, safety standards, and traffic regulations on-site.
- At least a High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Proven experience operating road roller or other heavy equipment.
- Knowledge of road construction and compaction techniques.
- Physically fit and able to work in various weather conditions.
- Must have a valid driver’s license or heavy equipment operator license (if required by local regulations).
- Strong attention to safety and detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions:
- On-site (field-based) work at construction projects.
- Monday to Saturday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (or as required by the project).
- Exposure to outdoor environment, dust, noise, and heavy machinery.
