A leading logistics company is seeking an Ocean Freight Manager to lead Ocean Freight strategies, manage capacity, and enhance service provider relationships. The ideal candidate will have a degree in business administration, extensive knowledge of the sea freight industry, and strong leadership skills to ensure profitability and growth.
Overall Purpose of the Role:
Defines, implements and executes Ocean Freight (OFR) strategy in the country
Manages and drives performance of OFR product teams
Ensures management of pre-defined capacity and allocation
Ensures local provider and OFR spot quote procurement and optimization/ consolidation are in line with carrier strategy and recurring revenue management
Ensures global rates are implemented and adhered to
Ensures implementation of business development opportunities within the country
Accountabilities:
Drives implementation of OFR strategy in the country (translates requirements, implements, ensures realization of strategy and monitors)
Directs and controls Capacity Management activities for Full Container Load (FCL) and Less-than-Container Load (LCL)at country level (management and allocation of capacity, adherence to global rates)
Sets, communicates and follows KPIs to ensure constant improvement of Capacity Management
Creates, develops and maintains good relationship with service providers, while facilitating negotiations of best rates at country level
Escalates carrier performance issues when required
Directs and controls all pricing activities required at a country level
Supervises identification and implementation of new products within the country
Supports Sales in interaction with key customers
Ensures efficient communication and information exchanges with Sales
Provides input on solution design and service elements
Ensures efficient communication and information exchanges with regional/global OFR management
Sets and monitors objectives in terms of profitability maximization and volume growth (e.g. on International Trade Management lanes)
Requirements
Degree in Business Administration or related subject
Extensive knowledge of Sea Freight/ Ocean Freightforwarding business
With at least 3 years of solid experience relevant to the position – Leadership role in Sea Freight/ Ocean Freight
Proven track record in people management role (leadership, motivation and people skills)
Demonstrates strong communication and presentation capabilities
Easily capable of making well informed decisions
Ability to prioritize work in a multi-tasked, fast-paced environment
