Job summary

Powertown is seeking an experienced mechanical/manufacturing engineer to lead the transition from prototyping to repeatable, high-volume production of its Powerblock line. You will own the manufacturing function as it is built from the ground up, including equipment, fixtures, and processes designed for scale.

You will design and procure manufacturing equipment, work with integrators on semi- to fully-automated systems, and lead supplier programs through buyoff and installation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on as an engineer on mechanical or electromechanical systems.
• Experience taking a product from prototype to volume production.
• Ability to specify, design, and procure manufacturing equipment.
• DFM and DFA experience with direct input to hardware design teams.
• Comfort building a manufacturing function with limited infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Own the transition from prototype builds to scaled production, building the function from the ground up.
• Develop equipment, fixtures, and processes for early builds that scale to high-volume production.
• Determine and acquire manufacturing equipment, coordinating with integrators for semi-automated to fully automated systems.
• Manage suppliers through specification, buyoff, and installation of equipment.
• Provide DFM input to improve yield and manufacturability as the design matures.
• Create manufacturing instructions and documentation to train technicians.
• Set cost, quality, and throughput targets to hit per-unit hardware cost goals at scale.
