Job summary

Merlin Labs is hiring in Boston, MA for a seasoned data leader to orchestrate data strategy for AI model training, simulation, and production deployment in safety-critical autonomous systems.

You will own end-to-end data pipelines, drive data flywheels, and partner with GPU/TPU teams to ensure data quality, traceability, and performance across development and deployment cycles. This role requires 10+ years in engineering leadership and a track record of scalable data platforms.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering experience with data infrastructure, MLOps, or AI platforms at scale.
• Experience building and operating data pipelines for AI/ML training, including dataset management and labeling workflows.
• Hands-on with data systems integrated to large-scale distributed training (GPU/TPU, orchestration, experiment tracking).
• Understanding of simulation pipelines and how data quality affects fidelity and transferability.
• Experience in safety-critical domains with emphasis on traceability and validation.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute a comprehensive data strategy across training, simulation, and production deployment.
• Own end-to-end data pipeline from collection through labeling, curation, versioning, and delivery.
• Build data flywheels to continuously improve model performance via feedback loops.
• Collaborate with teams provisioning GPU/TPU training clusters to align data delivery with compute and schedules.
• Design data pipelines feeding physics-based simulators for realistic model validation.
• Establish data quality standards and traceability with safety and certification teams.
• Lead, mentor, and grow data and infrastructure engineers, fostering rigor and ownership.
• Define KPIs for data pipeline health, simulation fidelity, and model readiness; report progress to leadership.
