Job Summary:
The Handyperson is responsible for performing general maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the hotel's facilities, equipment, and fixtures to ensure a safe, clean, and functional environment for guests and employees. The role supports the Engineering Department by carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance tasks while responding promptly to maintenance requests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on guest rooms, public areas, offices, and back-of-house facilities.
- Repair and maintain doors, windows, locks, furniture, ceilings, flooring, walls, and other building fixtures.
- Carry out basic carpentry, painting, masonry, plumbing, and electrical repair work within the scope of the position.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and various hotel departments.
- Conduct preventive maintenance activities according to the established maintenance schedule.
- Inspect hotel facilities regularly and report maintenance issues requiring specialized repairs.
- Ensure all tools, equipment, and work areas are kept clean, organized, and in good working condition.
- Assist Engineering Technicians with larger maintenance and renovation projects as required.
- Maintain maintenance logs and complete assigned work orders accurately and on time.
- Support emergency repair activities to minimize disruptions to hotel operations
- Assist in setting up hotel function rooms and facilities when maintenance support is required.
- Practice proper material usage and help minimize maintenance costs by preventing unnecessary waste.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or vocational certification in Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, Building Maintenance, or a related field.
- At least 1–2 years of experience in general maintenance, preferably in a hotel, resort, commercial building, or similar environment.
- Basic knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Physically fit and capable of performing manual labor, including lifting, climbing, and prolonged standing.
- Willing to work on shifting schedules, weekends, holidays, and respond to emergency maintenance situations.
