Job summary

Crawford & Company is seeking an Accountant to maintain General Ledger accounts in line with GAAP. The role involves analytical review of financial records and timely reporting of information.

You will reconcile client accounts, resolve discrepancies, and collaborate with IT/Operations to improve processes. Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance, 1+ year experience, and strong Excel/Word skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 1+ years of accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• Independent problem solver with sound reasoning.
• Highly analytical with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Basic word processing knowledge, preferably Word.
• Strong spreadsheet knowledge, preferably Excel.
• Experience with EPM/Smartview (or similar).

Responsibilities

• Analyzes and reconciles client accounts to ensure transactions have cleared and are properly funded.
• Performs reconciliations of client account records to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Close out relationships with terminated clients and return client escrow balances after reconciliation.
• Collaborate with IT, Operations, and Finance managers to implement process changes.
• Work with client contacts to resolve reporting discrepancies.
• Conduct root cause analysis of general ledger accounts and subledgers; prepare journal entries as needed.
• Identify and resolve cash accounting and book-to-bank processing issues.
• Assist in identifying client payments and ensure correct accounts receivable application.
• Propose and implement accounting process improvements with finance analysts.
• Compile and distribute banking activity reports for management.
• Produce management reports summarizing reconciled transactions.
• Uphold the Crawford Code of Conduct.
