Job summary

Remote Philippines is seeking a skilled Backend Developer to design, implement, and maintain scalable APIs using Python and FastAPI. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into robust services, leveraging PostgreSQL, PostGIS, Docker, and AWS for efficient data handling and deployment.

The ideal candidate has strong testing practices, experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases, and proficiency with Git/GitHub.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven backend experience with Python and FastAPI.
• Strong PostgreSQL and PostGIS expertise.
• Experience with Docker and AWS services (EC2, S3, SQS, Lambda) is beneficial.
• Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with WebSockets.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain robust and scalable backend services using Python and the FastAPI framework.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features that meet business requirements.
• Utilize PostgreSQL and PostGIS for efficient data storage, retrieval, and manipulation.
• Demonstrate expertise in working with different types of databases, including both SQL and NoSQL.
• Work with Docker to containerize applications for deployment and scaling.
• Utilize AWS services such as EC2, S3, SQS, and Lambda for hosting, storage, and asynchronous processing.
• Implement unit, integration, and testing strategies to ensure reliability and stability of backend services.
• Collaborate with QA to identify and address potential issues.
• Use Git and GitHub for version control and collaborative development.
• Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to team members.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes.
• Leverage expertise in FastAPI to build efficient and high-performance APIs.
• Utilize sockets or frameworks with WebSockets for real-time communication.
