The VP & General Manager is responsible for providing strategic leadership and overall direction for EEI Power Corporation’s business operations. The role oversees project execution, business development, engineering, operations, financial performance, and people management to ensure the achievement of the company’s business objectives. The General Manager drives operational excellence, strengthens client relationships, ensures compliance with regulatory and safety standards, and identifies opportunities for sustainable growth in the power and energy industry.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning & Growth: Develops long-term business strategies, including expanding renewable energy portfolios or transitioning energy technologies.
- Operational Oversight: Supervises daily operations, safety protocols, and technical efficiency across all departments to ensure uninterrupted power generation or distribution.
- Financial Management & P&L: Accountable for the overall Profit and Loss (P&L), managing budgets for large-scale assets, fuel procurement costs, and CAPEX initiatives.
- Regulatory Compliance & Stakeholder Relations: Ensures strict adherence to national and local energy regulations, environmental standards, and safety laws (e.g., OSHA, DOE).
- People Leadership: Leads large teams, oversees HR strategy, talent development, and succession planning for key technical roles.
- External Representation: Acts as the primary point of contact for government agencies, industry partners, and community stakeholders.
- P&L Responsibility of the Subsidiary: Manages the specialized budget, revenues, and costs of their specific unit to ensure its profitability and contribution to the overall company goals.
- Production & Technical Efficiency: Directs plant operations, maintenance, quality control, and commissioning of new assets within their unit.
- Business Development: Identifies and pursues new projects such as renewable projects, power contracting, solar power, retail electrical system (RES), etc.
- Operational Optimization: Implements continuous improvement initiatives, cost-effective solutions, and debottlenecking to maximize production efficiency.
- Specific Compliance: Ensures the Subsidiary adheres to safety and environmental standards specific to their activity (e.g., handling specific types of hazardous waste)
- Technical Expertise: Provides subject matter expertise (SME) in their particular field (e.g., hydro, trading)
Job Qualifications and Competencies Requirement:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Electrical Engineering or relevant field.
- Licensed Electrical Engineer or related.
- Project Management Professional
- At least 5 years of professional experience on a managerial level from a reputable power and energy company.
- Use of company or industry-specific methods and processes, formal problem-solving techniques, technology systems and machinery and other tools.
- A professional who demonstrates high levels of experience, competence, and proficiency, in management profession.
- Understanding of budget management and financial monitoring
