South Star Drug is seeking a General Accounting Officer to maintain accurate financial records, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies. The role supports month-end closing, reconciliations, and robust financial reporting for retail operations.

The successful candidate will handle journal entries, reconciliations, and coordination with departments to ensure data integrity, while contributing to audits and internal controls.

Qualifications

• GAAP knowledge and strong accounting practices.
• Proficient in MS Excel and accounting systems such as SAP or Oracle.
• 2–4 years of general accounting or financial reporting experience.
• Retail, FMCG, or pharmaceutical industry experience is a plus.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and record journal entries with proper documentation.
• Perform bank, intercompany, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Maintain the general ledger for accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare financial statements and management reports.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls.
• Coordinate with AP, AR, Inventory, and Operations for accurate data.

The General Accounting Officer is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. The role supports month-end closing, reconciliations, and financial reporting to ensure the integrity of financial data across Southstar Drug's retail operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and record journal entries and ensure proper documentation of transactions.

• Perform account reconciliations (bank, intercompany, and balance sheet accounts).

• Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities.

• Maintain and monitor the general ledger for accuracy and completeness.

• Preparation of financial statements and management reports.

• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls.

• Coordinate with other departments (AP, AR, Inventory, Operations) for accurate financial data.

• Assist in audits and provide necessary documentation to internal/external auditors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Accounting, or Finance

• CPA is an advantage (but not required)

• At least 2-4 years of experience in general accounting or financial reporting

• Experience in retail, FMCG, or pharmaceutical industry is a plus

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting

• Proficient in MS Excel and accounting systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar)

• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
