Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as hybrid on mid shift. The successful candidate is expected to report to the office three times per week or as dictated by the business.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for the timely and accurate reconciliation of payroll GL accounts across one or more GM entities. This role offers a great learning opportunity to understand different GM payroll systems and how payroll information influences our monthly Balance Sheet and Income Statements. The candidate will also drive transformation by standardizing, simplifying, and automating payroll accounting processes globally. Main stakeholders include the Country controllers and the GBS People Services team.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform General Ledger functions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and conformity with professional accounting standards and GAAP.
  • Identify, interpret, and analyze potential accounting risks and issues.
  • Research and analyze accounting transactions and contracts.
  • Implement internal controls, SOX compliance, and financial procedures.
  • Partner with Finance to assess accounting implications of transactions and perform analyses for business decisions.
  • Assist with internal and external financial reporting, including analyzing consolidated results, drafting SEC documents, and management review reports, while adhering to deadlines.
  • Evaluate current accounting practices and policies, and recommend improvements.
  • Research and interpret new accounting standards, assessing their applicability to GM, and ensure compliance with external reporting requirements like 10-Q/10-K.
