Job summary

Avensys Consulting is seeking an accomplished Fund Accounting Manager to lead senior-level Private Equity fund accounting operations and provide expert financial reporting across complex structures. You will partner with Fund Controllers, Fund Managers, clients, and senior leadership to drive audit-ready reporting, enhance controls, and scale processes.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive experience in Fund Accounting or Fund Administration.
• Experience supporting Private Equity or closed-end fund structures.
• Strong hands-on experience with NAV, capital calls, distributions, waterfall calculations, LP reporting, and fund reconciliations.
• 4+ years of direct people management experience.
• Experience managing multiple funds, reporting cycles, and client engagements.
• Experience in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close and audit-ready financial statements.
• Experience driving process transformation, automation, technology implementation, and operational improvements.
• Understanding of Private Equity performance metrics including IRR, TVPI, RVPI, and DPI.
• CPA preferred; CFA or CAIA is an advantage.
• Strong client-service orientation and ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic oversight and final review of NAV calculations across multiple Private Equity fund structures.
• Review reconciliations of cash, positions, and trial balances with fund administrators, custodians, prime brokers, and banks.
• Oversee allocation of income, expenses, gains, and losses across partner accounts.
• Lead the full Private Equity fund accounting lifecycle, from onboarding and investment activity through reporting and fund close.
• Direct month-end close and lead quarter-end and year-end financial statement processes, ensuring audit-ready workpapers and supporting schedules.
• Execute, calculate, and review capital calls, drawdowns, and distributions across multiple fund vehicles.
• Monitor portfolio valuations and ensure appropriate accounting treatment.
• Develop and enhance reporting tools and dashboards to support data-driven decision-making.
• Lead audit relationships and support year-end financial statement audits.

We are looking for an accomplished Fund Accounting Manager to provide senior-level leadership across Private Equity fund accounting operations.

This role will serve as a key partner to Fund Controllers, Fund Managers, clients, and senior leadership, with responsibility for delivering accurate and audit-ready financial reporting, strengthening operational controls, and driving scalable process improvements.

The successful candidate will lead and develop a growing team of fund accounting professionals while overseeing complex fund structures, investor reporting, NAV, capital activity, waterfalls, financial statements, and Private Equity performance reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Fund Accounting & Financial Reporting

• Provide strategic oversight and final review of NAV calculations across multiple Private Equity fund structures.
• Review and oversee reconciliations of cash, positions, and trial balances with fund administrators, custodians, prime brokers, and banks.
• Oversee allocation of income, expenses, gains, and losses across partner accounts.
• Review and issue quarterly and annual Partner Statements, including paid-in capital, unfunded commitments, clawbacks, and return of capital.
• Lead the full Private Equity fund accounting lifecycle, from onboarding and investment activity through reporting and fund close.
• Direct month-end close and lead quarter-end and year-end financial statement processes, ensuring audit-ready workpapers and supporting schedules.
• Execute, calculate, and review capital calls, drawdowns, and distributions across multiple fund vehicles.

Private Equity & Investment Accounting

• Review complex waterfall models, distribution rules, preferred returns, carried interest, and GP catch-up calculations.
• Provide senior oversight of pre- and post-closing accounting support for new and follow-on portfolio investments.
• Support purchase price allocation and fair value assessment activities.
• Monitor portfolio company valuations and ensure appropriate accounting treatment.

Performance Analytics & Client Reporting

• Provide fund managers and clients with meaningful Private Equity performance insights and reporting.
• Monitor and report key PE metrics including IRR, TVPI, RVPI, and DPI.
• Develop and enhance reporting tools and dashboards to support data-driven decision-making.
• Serve as a senior advisor and trusted finance partner to clients, understanding their fund structures, investor bases, and reporting requirements.

Process Improvement & Technology

• Act as a subject matter expert on Private Equity fund accounting best practices.
• Identify process gaps, manual activities, control weaknesses, reporting inefficiencies, and scalability risks.
• Design and implement standardized SOPs, automation initiatives, controls, and reporting improvements.
• Lead the evaluation and implementation of accounting technologies, workflow solutions, and system enhancements.
• Drive change management, user adoption, and successful integration of new technologies across the function.

Quality & Risk Management

• Establish and maintain a robust quality control framework across fund accounting deliverables.
• Review team outputs to ensure accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with accounting standards.
• Monitor operational KPIs and conduct root-cause analysis on errors, variances, and recurring issues.
• Implement corrective and preventive actions to improve quality and reduce operational risk.
• Lead audit relationships and support year-end financial statement audits.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of fund accounting professionals and team leads.
• Establish performance expectations, provide structured feedback, and support technical and career development.
• Monitor team capacity, performance, SLAs, and operational KPIs across multiple reporting cycles.
• Partner with senior leadership on hiring, onboarding, training, and team expansion.
• Represent Fund Accounting in client meetings, audits, and cross-functional discussions with Legal, Compliance, Investment, and other stakeholders.
