Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Fullstack Engineer focused on child safety to build data-intensive, AI-powered applications and infrastructure. You will enable operators and investigators to work effectively, delivering reliable tooling for high-severity safety work.

This role requires understanding sensitive content, ownership of end-to-end systems, and collaboration with cross-functional partners to advance OpenAI’s mission.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience prototyping, building, and maintaining intelligence systems for high-severity harms.
• Develop across the stack: UIs, services, pipelines, and tooling.
• Proficient in Python and/or TypeScript; familiar with Spark, Kafka, Flink, data warehouses, and SQL.
• Product-minded, user-workflow oriented, and fast to iterate.

Responsibilities

• Prototype, build, and maintain intelligence systems that detect, triage, and enable efficient human review of possible high severity harm.
• Develop across the stack: UIs, services, pipelines, and tooling to solve identified problems.
• Work with operators and investigators to improve tooling and workflows.
• Interact with cross-functional teams to align on product policy and safety goals.
• Report impact data-driven, and contribute to technical strategy for safety-related tools.
