Job summary

Manulife in the Philippines seeks a Full Stack Software Engineer within the Digital Transformation Services team of the Shared Services group, supporting John Hancock division users. You will research, resolve, escalate issues, and communicate proactively to prevent future problems.

You will own applications, document processes, conduct interviews, develop new capabilities, and manage ticket lifecycles while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable software solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
• 2–4 years of relevant experience with .NET/C#/SQL and front-end JS (Angular).
• Ability to translate complex tech issues into business-friendly solutions.
• Experience with open-source tools and new technologies welcome.

Job description

The Full Stack Software Engineer role of Digital Transformation Services team provides software solutions as part of the Shared Services group within the John Hancock division and provides strong timely customer support to business end users on issues they may have with system applications and tools they use. This would include researching, analyzing, resolving, escalating issues, and collaborating with relevant support teams, recommending resolution to the application, managing the lifecycle of the issue/ticket raised, and communicating proactively to avoid issues in the future.

Position Responsibilities

• Overall Point of contact on assigned applications for business users, other members of the team, and other areas who have questions regarding the application.
• Create and maintain system documentation for assigned applications and processes
• Conduct interviews with business and technical experts to identify and communicate issues
• Develop an application in support of new processes, products, or system enhancements
• Assist in resolving routine application production problems
• Gather comprehensive information to be used in problem identification and resolution
• Managing the ticket lifecycle, keeping the users updated on the progress and closely following up resolution of the issues to relevant support teams.
• Provide post implementation support for all approved deliverables
• Develop test plans, coordinate user acceptance testing, and perform system validations with scheduled system releases
• Act as business unit liaison with other business units when necessary
• Develop Business Requirements and specifications when necessary
• Analyze data and work with key stakeholders to develop creative solutions

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, with 2-4 years of relevant experience.
• Strong expertise in .NET, C#, and SQL databases, with solid application development and programming skills.
• Working knowledge of JavaScript and Angular for front-end development.
• Ability to analyze complex technical issues and translate them into business-friendly solutions.
• Strong solution design mindset, with the ability to challenge requirements and recommend optimal approaches.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and learning agility, including the ability to quickly adopt new technologies and open-source tools.
• Amenable to night shift work (8 PM to 5 AM) and capable of working effectively both independently and within collaborative teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development practices.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), and VDI environments.
• Understanding of Data Architecture, Data Modeling, and cloud-based solutions.
• Experience developing solutions using Power Platform (Power Apps and Power Automate).
• Strong English communication and presentation skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences.
• Customer-focused mindset with a good understanding of business operations, products, and organizational structures.
• Strong collaboration, organization, project management, and multitasking abilities, with the capability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
