Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent commercial software development experience.
• 3 to 5 years of commercial software development experience.
• Strong experience with React.js and modern frontend development practices.
• Strong experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
• Strong experience with Node.js backend development.
• Experience with NestJS or similar Node.js framework.
• Experience designing, building and consuming REST APIs.
• Practical experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
• Experience with ORM tools such as TypeORM.
• Experience using Git and GitHub, including branching and code reviews.
• Good understanding of secure coding practices and web risks.
• Ability to troubleshoot across the full stack.
• Ability to work within an existing product architecture and follow standards.
• Comfortable in an Agile software development environment.
• Strong ownership, attention to detail and problem-solving.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Nice-to-haves: Python, data processing with Pandas, React Native, CI/CD tools, Docker/Kubernetes, cloud hosting, automated testing, AI-assisted workflows.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and improve web applications using React, TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js and NestJS.
• Build and maintain frontend components, REST APIs, backend services and database integrations.
• Take ownership of assigned product features from development through testing, deployment and post release support.
• Work closely with the Technical Lead during sprint planning, technical discussions and workload prioritisation.
• Follow established architecture, coding standards and development practices.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to other developers.
• Troubleshoot technical issues across frontend, backend, API and database layers.
• Collaborate with QA and DevOps resources during testing, release preparation and production support.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, implementation notes and API documentation.
• Apply secure coding practices relating to authentication, authorisation, input validation, API security, dependencies and data access.
• Use AI assisted coding tools such as OpenAI Codex, Claude Code or similar tools where appropriate, while independently validating generated code for accuracy, security and maintainability.
