Job description

A forklift driver operates forklifts to load, unload, and move materials like merchandise, supplies, and products, ensuring safe and efficient movement within warehouses, factories, or construction sites. Key duties include performing safety checks on equipment, stacking and securing loads, maintaining inventory records, and adhering to all health and safety regulations to maintain a safe and organized work area.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

• Operation: Safely operate industrial forklifts and other powered vehicles to move goods.
• Loading & Unloading: Load and unload materials from various vehicles, such as trucks, rail cars, and cargo ships.
• Material Handling: Move materials to and from storage areas, machines, and loading docks, stacking them in designated bays.
• Load Security: Ensure that loads are properly secured, balanced, and stable for transport.
• Inventory Management: Assist with inventory control by counting, locating, and tracking merchandise using radio frequency (RF) scanning equipment.
• Order Picking & Packing: Pick orders from inventory and prepare them for shipping, which may include shrink-wrapping pallets.

Job Requirements

Safety & Maintenance

• Equipment Inspection: Perform daily safety checks on the forklift and report any defects or damage.
• Work Area Maintenance: Keep the forklift and surrounding work area clean and free of obstructions or spills.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all company guidelines and health and safety regulations, including OSHA standards, to prevent accidents.
• Basic Maintenance: Perform minor maintenance such as cleaning, oiling, or recharging the equipment as needed.

Coordination & Documentation

• Communication: Coordinate with supervisors and other employees to maintain efficient workflow and an organized work environment.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate inventory records and document the movement and storage of goods.
• Quality Assurance: Conduct quality checks on materials and report any damaged goods or product shortages
