Scorpio is seeking a Fitter in Manila on a contract/temporary basis to maintain and repair the vessel's mechanical systems, engines, and pumps. The role requires welding, fabrication, and hands-on fitting skills, with preference for experience in shipboard machinery and related safety procedures.
You will work under the 1st Assistant Engineer or supervisor, ensuring a clean, safe workshop and organized engine stores while complying with SOLAS, MARPOL, and flag state regulations.

Role Purpose: To help ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel by maintaining and repairing propulsion systems, pipelines, engines, auxiliary machinery, and other ship structures and equipment.
Essential Knowledge: The Fitter must be familiar with company policies, SOLAS, MARPOL, and flag state regulations. Key knowledge areas include the Theory and Practice of Seamanship, disassembly, repair, and reassembly of mechanical systems, and welding and metal fabrication techniques. Essential knowledge also includes the use of hand and power tools, workshop specialized equipment for ship fitting tasks, and waste management and pollution control practices.
Essential Skills and Abilities: Effective leadership, communication, and reporting skills are essential for the Fitter, along with the ability to maintain and assist in repairing deck and engine equipment. Strong time management skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, and ensure completion of responsibilities on schedule are required. Proficiency in various welding and fitting techniques, as well as working with shipboard machinery, engines, pumps, and other mechanical systems, is crucial.
Experience: Demonstrates reliability and leadership behaviors while supporting deck and engine room equipment repairs and maintenance. Has work experience in welding, metal fabrication, fitting, and machining metals. Skilfully and safely works with a wide range of tools and specialized equipment in the workshop.
