The Fire Protection Design, Estimation & CAD Engineer is responsible for the technical design, engineering drawings, material selection, estimation, and technical support of fire pump and fire protection system projects. The position covers the project from initial plan review and design through costing, material procurement support, installation coordination, testing, commissioning, and as-built documentation.
Design fire pump and fire protection systems according to project requirements, review architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, and MEP drawings, and determine fire protection system requirements and equipment capacities
Perform or review hydraulic calculations and select appropriate fire pumps, jockey pumps, controllers, tanks, valves, pipes, fittings, and accessories
Develop pump room layouts and fire protection piping systems ensuring designs comply with applicable Philippine regulations and recognized fire protection standards
Prepare detailed AutoCAD fire protection drawings including fire pump room layouts, piping layouts, sprinkler layouts, standpipe/hose system layouts, isometric drawings, shop drawings, installation drawings, and as-built drawings
Revise drawings based on consultant/client comments and actual site conditions, and coordinate drawings with other trades
Review plans, specifications, and project requirements to prepare Material Take-Off (MTO) and Bill of Materials (BOM)
Prepare project cost estimates, obtain and compare supplier quotations, and calculate material, equipment, labor, and installation costs
Prepare technical and commercial quotations and identify cost-saving alternatives without compromising required performance or compliance
Provide technical support to installation teams, review actual site conditions, resolve design and installation problems, and conduct site inspections when required
Assist with pressure testing, flushing, pump testing, commissioning, and prepare or review punch lists and corrective actions
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field
Licensed Mechanical Engineer (ME) - PRC Philippines
3-5+ years of relevant experience in fire protection systems, fire pump systems, mechanical/plumbing systems, fire pump installation, fire protection design, engineering estimation, or AutoCAD drafting
Works independently with limited supervision; 5+ years would be preferable
Working knowledge of Philippine Fire Code, NFPA 13, NFPA 14, NFPA 20, NFPA 22, NFPA 24, NFPA 25, and applicable Philippine building/mechanical requirements
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and PDF/document markup software
Advantage: Hydraulic calculation software, Revit/BIM, other MEP design software, or estimating/costing software
Preferred certifications: Fire Protection Engineering training, Fire Pump Design training, Hydraulic Calculation training, NFPA training, Fire Safety training, AutoCAD certification/training, fire pump manufacturer training, fire pump controller training, or testing and commissioning training
