About the role. . .
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Financial Accountant/Analyst to join our finance team. This role is pivotal in delivering timely and accurate financial analysis, insightful management reporting, and actionable recommendations that drive business performance.
In addition to core financial reporting responsibilities, the position plays a key role in budget vs actual performance analysis, reviewing General Ledger accounts to understand cost drivers, and identifying opportunities for expense reduction.
The role will also have a significant systems oversight and reconciliation component, ensuring that data between multiple business systems is accurate, aligned, and reliable. This includes performing cross-platform reconciliations, resolving discrepancies, and working with internal stakeholders to optimise system integrations and data flows.
Financial Analysis & Reporting:
Prepare month end flash reporting within 2 business days of month end
Prepare month end management reports within 7 days of month end
Conduct monthly budget vs actual analysis for P&L and cashflow, providing detailed variance commentary ad actionable recommendations
Drill down into specific General Ledger accounts to understand cost drivers, assess expense trends, and identify savings opportunities.
Partner with operational managers to communicate findings and track cost optimisation initiatives.
Maintain and develop financial models to support budgeting and forecasting
Generate weekly sales and operations reports with insights on margin and performance drivers
Support cashflow forecasting and working capital planning across the group
Identify financial trends, risks, and opportunities; recommend cost optimisation strategies
Contribute to annual budget planning and other strategic financial initiatives
Preparation of weekly reports for sales and operations department
Identify financial trends and recommend cost optimisation strategies
Other ad-hoc financial reporting and data analysis as required.
Accounting and Financial Control:
Assist with balance sheet reconciliations, including intercompany reconciliation and journal entries
Review job costing data for accuracy; assist with historical data clean-up if required
Prepare monthly BAS for the group
Provide backup support for Bookkeeper and accounting functions, including but not limited to payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable.
Month-end reconciliation of general ledger and intercompany accounts.
Systems Oversight & Cross-Platform Reconciliation:
Perform daily/weekly/monthly (as required) system cross checks to ensure accuracy of data, including but not limited to:
SimPRO - Power BI Reports
Simpro - Xero
HubSpot - Power BI Reports
HubSpot - SimPRO
HubSpot - 3CX
Identify and resolve discrepancies or inconsistencies between systems
Work with internal stakeholders' to streamline how systems connect and share data.
Recommend and implement process improvements for data accuracy and reporting efficiency
About you. . .
We are looking for an A-star individual, passionate and competent with what they do and bringing the WOW with the following qualifications:
3+ years' experience in financial analysis or accounting
Proficiency with Xero
Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills (e.g. modelling, pivots, lookups)
Effective organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
Capable of developing and maintaining structured reporting procedures
Accuracy and consistency in financial data handling and reporting
Ability to develop, streamline and maintain detailed procedures
