Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directly responsible for preparing financial statements and ensures an accurate and timely monthly and year end close.
- Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Prepares and analyzes reports used for Financial Statement analysis.
- Reviews and analyzes departments expenditures and reviews appropriate journal entries.
- Directs and assists with gathering data for cost savings and revenue enhancing ideas.
- Reviews general ledger accounts and activity.
- Reviews cash account reconciliations.
- Acts as the contact for Independent Auditors of financial records, overseeing and ensuring completion of all necessary audit schedules.
- Manages all controls associated with generating financial statements (i.e., receiving, accounts payable, sales, etc.).
- Oversees Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions.
- Directly supervises other Accounting & Finance team members.
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines while producing accurate, high-quality work products.
- Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
- Directs and/or completes special projects as assigned.
- Will assist with various Human Resources responsibilities as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned or needed.
SUPERVISION OF OTHERS
- Supervises Accounting & Finance team members by performing such duties as recommending employment status (i.e., hiring, terminating, promotions, issuing warnings, etc.), interviewing applicants, counselling, training, scheduling, resolving conflicts, coordinating with other departments, conducting department meetings, conducting performance evaluations, etc.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent.
- 10+ years of accounting and finance experience
- At least 2 years of experience in a leadership role
- Proven track record of achieving results by effectively managing and leading others
- Ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities with efficiency and accuracy.
- Exceptional skills in MS Excel.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook and other Office Suite tools.
- Ability to analyze complex problems and create solutions.
- Ability to work independently and professionally.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detailed work and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
- Manual dexterity for such duties as stapling, collating, sorting, filing, typing, writing, etc.
- Communicate (hearing & speech) with individuals in person and by phone.
- Visually read reports, computer screen, etc.
- Ability to develop a thorough knowledge of company policies, procedures and the company marketing plan.
- Has an open mind, willing to learn and a fast learner,
