Job description

General Workscope

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight of all finance and accounting operations.

  • Supervise the Finance & Accounting Manager and the Management Accounting Manager.

  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with PFRS/IFRS and HO-Japan standards.

  • Lead the development, execution, and evaluation of budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.

  • Ensure timely compliance with local tax regulations (BIR, SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, etc.).

  • Coordinate financial audits and ensure that recommendations are implemented.

  • Align internal controls and financial policies with both local and international (Japanese) requirements.

  • Provide sound financial advice to top management for decision-making and strategic planning.

  • Monitor cash flow, fund utilization, and cost-efficiency initiatives.

  • Act as the primary liaison with the Head Office in Japan for all finance-related matters.

  • Maintain confidentiality and data integrity in all financial records.

Budgeting and Financial Strategy

  • Design effective budget models for departments and the offshore head office

  • Analyze financial information (e.g. revenues, expenditures and cash management) to ensure the company operations are within budget

  • Present annual budgets to the top management

  • Review budget requests for approval and forecast future budget needs

  • Identify variances between actual and budgeted financial results at the end of each reporting period

  • Suggest spending improvements that increase profits

  • Review the company’s budget for compliance with legal regulations

  • Ensure department managers meet budget submission deadlines

Accounting Planning, Administration and Compliance

  • Increase adherence to tax laws

  • Conduct an external audit of tax returns

  • Enhance Operational Effectiveness

  • Perform an external accounting audit as needed

  • Streamline internal processes and make accounting more transparent

  • Increase the efficiency of annual budgeting and company planning

Communications

  • Effectively and efficiently communicate corporate and departmental plans both to Philippines and Weblio’s Head Office

  • Communicate requirements and improve processes and procedures for possible partnership/listings with Japan’s Public Listings

    KEY QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a closely related field; or equivalent related experience.

  • Master’s degree preferred.

  • CPA certification is a plus.

Experience

  • At least 8 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting.

  • Minimum of 3 years in a leadership or managerial capacity, overseeing teams or departments.

  • Open for non- CPA accountants

Knowledge

  • Adept in the principles of accounting and financial principles

  • Highly comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation, policies, procedures and best practices and their application in financial areas

Skills

  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to guide cross-functional teams effectively.

  • Excellent compliance and risk management skills, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and internal controls.

  • Advanced financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting capabilities.

  • Proficient in strategic decision-making using data-driven insights.

  • Skilled in using accounting systems, spreadsheets, and financial analysis tools to support business objectives.

Abilities

  • Able to provide strategic insight and translate financial data into actionable business recommendations.
