Job summary

Puge t Sound ESD is seeking an Expanded Learning Program – College Intern to help create community learning centers and deliver enrichment activities after school. The role supports students in reading, math and related subjects, with opportunities in STEM, arts and literacy.

You will learn to plan lessons, lead activities, and engage families while gaining hands-on youth development experience. The position is hourly and on-call, with schedules across multiple sites in Washington.

Expanded Learning Program - College Intern

The Expanded Learning Program - College Intern supports the creation of community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children. The after-school program helps students meet state and local student standards in core academic subjects, such as reading and math; offers students a broad array of enrichment activities that complement their regular academic programs.

Expanded Learning Program - College Intern Provides Engaging Academic And Enrichment Programming Which Empowers Youth And Assists Them In Academic Skill Building. Interns Will Learn To Plan And Deliver Youth Development Lessons And/or Family Engagement Events. Successful Candidates Demonstrate Enthusiasm, Creativity, Organization, Positive Attitude, Excellent Communication, Reliability, Self-reflection, a Growth Mindset, Consistency, And Commitment. The Program Is Looking For Program Assistants To Creatively Plan And Lead Activities In The Following Areas

  • Academic tutoring

  • Environment education
  • Computers and technology
  • STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Arts Education, visual arts, crafts, drama, dance, music

Job Details

Locations: East Hill Elementary, Mill Creek Middle School, Neely O'Brien Elementary School, River Ridge Elementary School, Springbrook Elementary School

Job Type: Hourly, on-call. Work schedules are created with staff and site coordinators input. Days and times vary by location. Available weekdays between 2:00-6:00pm and if school has morning program prior to 9:00am. Schedules ranges from 6-16 hours per week. Candidates must be available at least 2 days per week to be considered.

Salary: $16.28/hr

Department: Learning, Teaching & Family Support

Conditions of Employment: Successful completion of fingerprint/background check - clearance required for those 18+

Benefits: This position is a non-regular classification and is not eligible for benefits.
