Job summary

Curran Daly & Associates is seeking an Equities Settlements Specialist to manage end-to-end settlement processes for Asia equity markets including Stock Connect. The role requires 3–5 years of relevant experience and close coordination with overseas brokers and custodians.

You will work with Front and Back Office teams to minimize settlement fails, resolve Nostro issues, and ensure accurate trade records daily, while updating SOPs as markets evolve.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in end-to-end settlement processing, especially Asia Equity Markets and Stock Connect.
• Liaising with overseas brokers/custodians on trade pre-matching issues.
• Reducing fails and/or potential fails through pairing off or partializing deliveries.
• Analyzing reasons for client fails and providing timely updates to relevant desk.

Role Title Equities Settlements Specialist

Experience Required 3 – 5 years relevant experience

Market Coverage Hong Kong / Asia Equity Markets (HKEX), Stock Connect

Business Line

Securities Asia executes its clients’ orders through its own Broker seats in HKEX. Upon execution of each order, a transaction contract is created between Securities Asia and the client. Sec Asia Back Office is responsible for clearing and settling those trades executed via Sec Asia, and informing the relevant counterparties in case of disagreement.

Direct Responsibilities – Settlements

• Hands-on experience in end-to-end settlement processing, especially Asia Equity Markets and Stock Connect.
• Liaising with overseas brokers/custodians on trade pre-matching issues.
• Reducing fails and/or potential fails through pairing off or partializing deliveries.
• Analyzing reasons for various client fails and providing regular updates to the relevant desk on time.
• Communicating with clients and internal teams to ensure all trades are settled accurately and on time.
• Producing error-free work consistently.
• Timely resolution of Nostro and depot breaks.
• Updating static data in back-end systems to support Straight-Through Processing (STP).
• Following up on outstanding trades and ensuring accurate records in EOD and daily checklists.
• Handling buy-ins, irregular settlement trades, and fail fees.
• Working knowledge of collateral management and stock lending.
• Handling client email queries and responding within agreed Turnaround Time (TAT).
• Regularly updating SOPs as markets change or require updates.
• Proficiency in SWIFT settlement messages.

Contributing Responsibilities

• Escalation and reporting: understanding internal rules for escalating to Operations and Front Office.
• Strong client focus: ability to work with various clients and Front Office, understanding the rationale behind their requests, and responding proactively.
• Working in partnership with stakeholders while maintaining an independent mindset.

Experience Required

3 – 5 years of relevant experience in equities settlements or a related back-office function.
