Lattice is a worldwide community of engineers, designers, and manufacturing operations specialists in partnership with world-class sales, marketing, and support teams, who are developing programmable logic solutions that are changing the industry. Our focus is on R&D, product innovation, and customer service, and to that focus, we bring total commitment and a keenly sharp competitive personality. Energy feeds on energy. If you flourish in a fast paced, results-oriented environment, if you want to achieve individual success within a “team first” organization, and if you believe you can contribute and succeed in a demanding yet collegial atmosphere, then Lattice may well be just what you’re looking for.

Job Description:

Sr. Product Engineering Technician: Product Engineering is a key part of Lattice’s Research and Development (R&D) organization, serving as the vital bridge between Silicon Design and Manufacturing Operations. Its primary mission is to define, develop, and implement comprehensive chip verification and validation solutions for all Lattice products. Because Product Engineering activities are heavily lab-centric, Lab Technicians play an essential role in the success of the organization. They provide critical support to Product Engineers by ensuring laboratory resources, equipment, and hardware are planned, prepared, and readily available to meet project requirements. Lab Technicians work closely with Product Engineers to develop and bring up product test and characterization capabilities across both ATE and bench platforms. In addition, they are responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the engineering lab, ensuring that all tools, equipment, and hardware remain in optimal working condition.

Product Engineering seeks innovative, proactive, and highly motivated individuals who are energized by solving technical challenges and driving results. The role offers broad exposure to the semiconductor industry, as Product Engineering is actively involved in every phase of product development, from concept to production. Successful candidates must demonstrate a strong ability to learn quickly, adapt to new technologies, and develop expertise in diverse technical areas. Strong communication and collaboration skills are equally important, as the Product Engineering team interfaces extensively with nearly every technical and business function within the company, including Design, Applications, System Validation, Software, Manufacturing, Marketing, Quality, and Reliability. This cross-functional engagement provides unique opportunities to influence product success while building a comprehensive understanding of semiconductor product development.

Responsibilities
  • Support Product Engineers in the setup, operation, and maintenance of laboratory test environments.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain ATE test systems, handlers, and associated hardware.
  • Should be able to identify board level problems and drive resolution with the vendors.
  • Set up, debug, and maintain bench test systems used for product characterization and validation.
  • Execute testing of engineering and qualification samples (e.g., AS, ES) on ATE and bench platforms, ensuring timely delivery of results and tested units to internal and external customers.
  • Identify, document, and elevate hardware, equipment, setup, and test execution issues to ensure rapid resolution.
  • Ensure ESD compliance across all bench workstations, test equipment, and ATE systems.
  • Analyze and report key test metrics, including yield, throughput, and test time performance.
  • Perform installation, checkout, validation, and qualification of newly acquired ATE and bench hardware.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee calibration activities for laboratory tools, instruments, and equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage inventory, allocation, and utilization of laboratory tools and test equipment.
  • Maintain inventory and tracking of golden units, correlation units, validation units, and characterization samples.
  • Forecast laboratory equipment, tools, and consumables requirements to support annual budgeting and operational planning.
  • Create purchase requisitions and purchase orders and track procurement activities to ensure on-time delivery of laboratory resources.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on laboratory efficiency, equipment reliability, safety, and operational excellence.
Required Skills
  • 8+ years of semiconductor laboratory, product engineering, test engineering, or manufacturing support experience.
  • Proven experience supporting new product introduction (NPI), silicon validation, characterization, qualification, and production test activities with minimum supervision.
  • Advanced expertise in setup, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Automated Test Equipment (ATE) with hands-on experience with Nextest Magnum SV/PV, and Teradyne UltraFLEX platforms test systems is preferred.
  • Strong experience in setup, operation, diagnosis, and troubleshooting of semiconductor package handlers, including Synax 2400 and Seiko-Epson systems.
  • Solid experience in setup, operation, and troubleshooting of temp. forcers and bench tools such as, Oscilloscopes, Power Supplies, Pattern generators, Logic analyzers, digital multimeters.
  • Experienced in performing bench board modifications, rework, soldering, wiring, and fixture repair.
