Job summary

bluSwap is building the rails that power India’s digital economy. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, product, and business delivery. You’ll own critical systems, ship fast, and grow a team that scales them.

Work closely with Product and external banks/partners to translate priorities into engineering reality. You’ll lead incidents, design scalable systems, and raise the bar on engineering practices with a bias for ownership and impact.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years building and scaling backend systems in production.
• Experience leading an engineering team while staying close to code and design.
• Strong system design and API architecture chops; you've built platforms, not just features.
• Background in fintech, SaaS, banking tech, or e-commerce.
• Experience with high-traffic, client-facing systems.
• A track record of turning ambiguous requirements into working engineering solutions.
• Real ownership of production systems: incident management, performance tuning, RCA.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery across product enhancements and client integrations.
• Turn messy, half-formed business requirements into scalable system designs.
• Run multiple workstreams in parallel without wrecking long-term architecture.
• Ship releases with focus on performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Design backend systems and APIs for high-traffic workloads.
• Lead by being useful and hands-on when blocked.
• Make architecture calls balancing rapid delivery with long-term stability.
• Own uptime and performance through incidents and RCAs.
• Lead incident response, debugging, and RCAs when required.
• Raise the bar on engineering practices and ownership.
• Hire, mentor, and grow backend engineers to build real systems.

About the Role

bluSwap builds the infrastructure that powers how money moves across India's digital economy — Connected Banking, UPI Switch, Smart Checkout, Payouts, and Tokenisation. We're not a support function for fintech; we're the rails underneath it. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, product, and business delivery. You'll own critical systems, ship fast, and build the team that scales them. If you want to trade committee-driven decision-making for real ownership, this is that job.

Key Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery across product enhancements, new capabilities, and client/partner integrations — no handoffs, no ambiguity about who's accountable.
• Turn messy, half-formed business requirements into scalable system designs before anyone else has finished writing the ticket.
• Run multiple workstreams in parallel without letting speed wreck long-term architecture.
• Ship releases that are fast and solid — performance, reliability, and maintainability aren't optional.
• Design backend systems and APIs built for high-traffic, transactional workloads — this isn't a CRUD app.
• Get into the code when the team is blocked. You lead by being useful, not by watching from a distance.
• Make the architecture calls that balance "ship this week" against "don't regret this in six months."
• Own uptime and performance like it's your name on the SLA — because it is.
• Lead incident response, debugging, and RCAs when things break at 2 AM.
• Keep raising the bar on engineering practices instead of settling for "it works."
• Hire, mentor, and grow backend engineers who want to build real things.
• Build a culture where people take ownership instead of waiting for instructions.
• Work directly with Product, Business, and external banks/partners — translate their priorities into engineering reality.

Requirements

• 5–8 years building and scaling backend systems in production.
• Experience leading/managing an engineering team while staying close to code and design.
• Strong system design and API architecture chops — you've built platforms, not just features.
• Background in fintech, SaaS, banking tech, or e-commerce, ideally startup-forged.
• Experience with high-traffic, client-facing systems.
• A track record of turning ambiguous requirements into working engineering solutions.
• Real ownership of production systems: incident management, performance tuning, RCA.
