Spinny is seeking a senior technologist to lead the architecture, scalability, and reliability of core platforms. You will drive technical roadmaps, shape backend systems powering millions of customer interactions, and mentor engineering teams to deliver high-quality software.

The role demands strong system design, hands-on coding in modern backends, and a track record of leading scalable systems in startups or scale-ups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or related field.
• 10 years in backend design, development, and scaling distributed systems.
• 2+ years leading a cross-functional team of 6–10 engineers and QA.
• Proven expertise in system design (HLD/LLD), microservices, and API development.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, databases, and cloud.
• Hands-on with Python, Java, Go, Node.js or RoR; strong SQL/NoSQL knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to agile SDLC, including design and architecture decisions.
• Lead design and development of scalable, distributed, fault-tolerant systems.
• Own architectural decisions and guide teams on trade-offs.
• Collaborate with Product, Frontend, Data, and DevOps to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Mentor engineers; review code and designs; drive best practices.
• Evaluate new technologies to keep systems ahead of the curve.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to all aspects of an agile software development lifecycle including design, architecture.
• Lead the design and development of highly scalable, distributed, and fault-tolerant systems.
• Own technical architecture decisions and guide teams through trade-offs and implementation strategies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (Product, Frontend, Data, DevOps) to drive end-to-end solutions.
• Mentor and coach engineers; review code, designs, and provide thought leadership.
• Drive best practices in coding, design, testing, and deployments.
• Evaluate and introduce new technologies to keep the system ahead of the curve.

Requirements

• Bachelor's/master's degree in computer science engineering, preferably from Tier I/II Institutes.
• 10 years of experience in backend system design, development, and scaling distributed systems.
• 2+ years of experience leading a cross-functional team of 6-10 backend, frontend, mobile developers & QAs.
• Proven expertise in system design (HLD + LLD), microservices architecture, and API development.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, databases, and cloud infrastructure.
• Hands-on expertise in one or more backend languages: Python (preferred) / Java / Go / Node.js / RoR.
• Deep understanding of SQL (PostgreSQL/MySQL) & NoSQL (MongoDB/DynamoDB) databases.
• Experience in owning verticals, leading projects, and making architecture decisions at scale.
• Bonus: Experience in observability, security, performance optimization, and DevOps practices.
