ENGINE INSTRUCTOR
UNIT/DEPARTMENT: Training Department
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for delivering high-quality trainings for FSC Training Center, Inc.
MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS
- College or Bachelor's degree graduate of Marine Engineering
- Has IMO MC 6.09, 3.12, and 6.10
- Experience in a maritime training center or in teaching is an advantage
- Experience working in the maritime industry (seaboard) under management level is a must
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Refreshes the knowledge and skills of onboarding seafarers, both for previous crews and new cadets.
- Provides detailed information related to engines like marine engineering, auxiliary machinery, operations, boiler, purifiers, and everything inside the engine room including electricity.
- Delivers high-quality training for FSC Training Center Inc.
- Ensures crew will be familiarized with the activities inside the ship.
- Follows standard engine qualifications compendium.
- Provides specific training and instructions following materials especially provided by the training manager for seafarers who will be onboarding ships with special instructions for their crew.
- Regularly updates syllabus and revisions of compendiums.
- Prepares all crew for unprecedented errors that may occur in vessels.
- Keeps detailed documentation of vessel incidents to improve training materials and manuals.
- Conducts homework, and prepares crew for tests and exams.
- Requires crew to retake tests if they don’t meet criteria.
- Designs lesson plans and instructional materials to meet specific learning objectives.
- Develops and delivers comprehensive training programs on engine theory, operation, maintenance, and repair.
- Evaluates participants' skill levels and provides instruction and feedback to help them improve.
- Ensures the safety of all participants by enforcing safety rules and regulations.
- Maintains equipment and facilities in good condition and reports any damages or malfunctions.
- Participates in staff meetings and training.
- Maintains accurate records of attendance, progress, and evaluations.
- Delivers classroom and hands-on training to students, including lectures, discussions, and practical exercises.
- Provides individualized coaching and feedback to students to help them improve their performance.
- Develops and maintains relationships with students, staff, and industry partners to enhance training opportunities.
- Stays up-to-date with industry trends and best practices related to engine operation and maintenance.
- Collaborates with other instructors and staff to ensure the quality and effectiveness of training programs.
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by superior.
