Job summary

Eliot Community Human Services is seeking an Engagement Counselor to join PATH, providing outreach, crisis intervention, and clinical assessment to adults with serious mental illness, including co-occurring substance use disorders. You will collaborate with providers to connect individuals to treatment, housing, and resources.

The role emphasizes street outreach, engagement, and compassionate care within a supportive team and community network. Competitive compensation is offered in USD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Healing Arts or Education is required.
• Minimum 1 year experience with adults with mental illness and homelessness knowledge.
• Master's degree in Healing Arts or Education is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform outreach and engagement activities for homeless individuals with mental health needs.
• Provide crisis intervention and counseling, plus concrete aid like clothing and food.
• Encourage use of housing resources, shelters, and entitlements; facilitate linkage.
• Maintain knowledge of local housing and community resources; build relationships.
• Engage in client-centered, harm-reduction, Housing First framework.
• Understand challenges of homelessness, substance use, mental illness, and trauma.
