Job summary

Emerson in Manila is seeking a QA/Test Engineer to ensure quality, reliability, and performance of software and hardware for power plant control systems. You will work in a lab-based environment testing fully integrated systems to mirror real-world conditions and deliver trusted solutions to customers worldwide.

The role requires a bachelor's in engineering, 2+ years of hands-on testing in complex software and hardware, familiarity with testing methodologies, Windows OS

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to test features in the Ovation platform.
• Execute smoke, regression, functional, system, compatibility, and performance tests and document results.
• Design, maintain, and execute test plans, cases, and scenarios across multiple software/hardware configurations.
• Develop and enhance automated test scripts and manage test data workflows.
• Identify, log, and track defects with leads to reproduce and resolve issues.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes, tools, and practices.
• Support knowledge sharing and ongoing skill development within the team.

For This Role, You Will Need:

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics and Communication Engineering or any related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of hands‑on experience in product or system testing within complex software and hardware environments, such as distributed or industrial control systems.
• Working knowledge of testing methodologies, including functional, system, compatibility, and performance testing.
• Experience installing and configuring Windows operating systems, drivers, and patches.
• Ability to identify opportunities for improving test coverage, efficiency, and quality.
• Exposure to field instruments, controllers, human‑machine interfaces, and industrial communication technologies.

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

• Experience with test automation tools such as TestComplete, Selenium, or Playwright.
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies and environments.
• Foundational understanding of power plants or industrial control systems.
• Basic programming or scripting skills in languages such as C, C++, or Python.
• Knowledge of networking concepts and communication protocols.
• Formal training or certification in software testing principles (e.g., ISTQB Foundation Level)

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

• Collaborate with cross‑functional team members to test features within the Ovation platform and related applications.
• Execute smoke, first‑pass, regression, functional, system, compatibility, and performance testing, clearly documenting and communicating results.
• Design, maintain, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scenarios across multiple software and hardware configurations.
• Develop and enhance automated test scripts and manage test data workflows, with opportunities to use AI‑assisted testing tools.
• Identify, log, and track defects, working closely with project leads to reproducing, analyzing, and supporting resolution of issues.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes, tools, and practices to enhance overall product quality.
• Support knowledge sharing and ongoing skill development within the engineering and testing community.
