Job summary

Ayala Foundation, Inc. is seeking a Manila-based Project Support for Early Grades Education to coordinate local field activities in El Nido and surrounding communities.

The role requires frequent travel and hands-on support for teachers, parents, and community stakeholders to strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy skills. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all logistical aspects of the CENTEX Early Grades program in El Nido, including venues, materials, and scheduling.
  • Support training sessions for teachers and Child Development Workers on research-based teaching models.
  • Assist with localization of program materials and resources and implement play-based modules.
  • Support data collection for attendance, pre/post assessments, and qualitative feedback.
  • Prepare routine reports and proposals with insights from field implementation.
  • Assist in budget preparation and financial documentation.
  • Facilitate capacity-building activities and maintain project documentation.
  • Identify local training needs to enhance professional growth.

Job description

The Project Support for Early Grades Education is a Manila-based position, but will require frequent field work and travel to El Nido, Palawan. The role is directly responsible for the localized coordination, logistical support, and meticulous data management for the implementation of the CENTEX Early Grades program within the communities. This role supports teachers, parents, and other community stakeholders in strengthening foundational skills and addressing key challenges in early childhood education, ensuring effective program delivery at the ground level. This role also provides technical expertise, e.g., on curriculum design or training development, as well as project management to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery, working with internal and external partners as appropriate.

Stakeholder Relations and Advocacy

  • Coordinates directly with Child Development Centers (CDCs) and Elementary School Heads in El Nido on all project activities.
  • Supports program updates to local stakeholders, ensuring clear and timely communication within the assigned areas and communities.
  • Assists in fostering strong relationships with the local government units, community leaders, and parent groups in the assigned area to ensure program buy-in and sustainability.

Program Planning, Design, and Implementation

  • Coordinates all logistical aspects of the CENTEX Early Grades program within El Nido, including the arrangement of training venues, distribution of learning materials, and scheduling of activities.
  • Facilitates local training sessions for teachers and Child Development Workers in the assigned area on research-based teaching models and strategies for early literacy and numeracy.
  • Supports the preparation and localization of program materials and resources
  • Assists with the implementation of play-based modules aligned with NELC and kindergarten competencies and quarterly themes for learning resource kits in classrooms.
  • Supports program innovation and ensures the continued relevance of the CENTEX Early Grades program, informed by direct field experience and feedback from local stakeholders.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

  • Coordinates and supports rigorous data collection for the CENTEX Early Grades program in the assigned area, including attendance records, pre/post-assessments of students, and qualitative feedback.
  • Assists in the preparation of regular reports and proposals, contributing relevant data and insights from the project implementation.
  • Ensures accurate tracking of learning outcomes from Pre-Kindergarten to Kindergarten within assigned program sites.

Budget, Finance, and Compliance

  • Diligently files expenses related to the CENTEX Early Grades program, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to financial guidelines and procedures.
  • Assists with local budget preparation and financial documentation as needed, providing accurate financial reports from the field.

Capacity Building, Knowledge Management, and Documentation

  • Facilitates training and mentoring activities for beneficiaries of the Early Grades program in El Nido, including teachers and parents.
  • Supports the Project Lead in identifying local training needs for teachers and Child Development Workers to enhance their professional growth.
  • Supports in creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation related to the CENTEX Early Grades program in the assigned area, including project activities, data, and relevant resources.
  • Ensures effective local knowledge sharing processes to capture and disseminate best practices from project implementation.

Risk and Issue Management

  • Assists in promptly resolving any project-related issues that may arise during the implementation of the Early Grades program, escalating complex issues to the Project Lead.
  • Proactively identifies potential operational challenges and assists in mitigating risks at the local level.
  • Coordinates with cross-functional teams within the organization to ensure smooth implementation of the CENTEX Early Grades project.

REQUIREMENTS

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in education, community work, technology or another related field
  • Preferably with 2-3 years of experience in early grades education, and/or project coordination or support
  • Background in education, community work, technology, or another similar field.
  • Strong familiarity with learning tools, educational technology platforms, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with the dynamics in working with the Department of Education.
  • Exceptional organizational and logistical skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proficiency in data collection and basic reporting, with an understanding of research and data privacy policies.
  • Teaching experience or experience working in or with the Department of Education is an advantage.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting effectively with teachers, students, and community members.
  • Ability to work independently and as an integral part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive in addressing challenges, and committed to achieving program objectives.
  • Must be physically fit and willing to travel for field work
