Job summary

World Vision Bangladesh is seeking a DRR Field Facilitator to support community-level disaster risk reduction activities. The role focuses on facilitating awareness sessions, household visits, data collection, and mobilization to reach vulnerable households, including children, with timely information and services.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 1–2 years of field experience, with strong English communication and willingness to travel in field/camp settings.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate community awareness sessions on DRR at the field/camp level.

  • Collect field data and maintain up-to-date records of visits and activities.
  • Coordinate with Site Management/Camp-in-Charge for smooth delivery of activities.

Job Description
Position Purpose:

The DRR Field Facilitator will support the day-to-day implementation of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) activities at the community/camp level, acting as the frontline link between the project team and affected households. The role focuses on facilitating awareness sessions, household visits, data collection, and mobilization support to ensure vulnerable households, especially children, are reached with timely information and services.

Key Objectives Of The Position
Field-Level Facilitation
  • Facilitate community awareness sessions on disaster preparedness, early warning signals, and response actions for landslides and flooding
  • Support the mobilization of households/community members for CERT training, drills, and other DRR activities
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating meetings with community groups, camp committees, and vulnerable household representatives
Household-Level Engagement
  • Conduct household-level visits to identify and collect information on affected children and their families
  • Identify vulnerable households (e.g., persons with disabilities, single-headed households, elderly, young children) for targeted support and readiness planning
  • Follow up with households on referrals, service access, and participation in DRR activities
Data Collection & Documentation
  • Collect field-level data and case information to support emergency needs assessments
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of household visits, attendance, and activity documentation
  • Provide field-level inputs and updates for Situation Reports (SitRep)
Support to Site Management & Coordination
  • Liaise with Site Management and Camp-in-Charge (CiC) at the field level for smooth delivery of activities and access to camp facilities/learning centers
  • Report any protection concerns, service gaps, or emerging risks (e.g., signs of landslide/flood risk) to supervisors promptly
  • Support other sectoral teams (health, education, WASH, etc.) with field-level coordination as needed
Community Feedback & Accountability
  • Facilitate two-way communication between the community and project team, including feedback and complaints referral
  • Ensure community members, including children and vulnerable groups, are informed about project activities and their rights to participat
Support To Training Facilitation, Communications And Implementation
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable engaging with diverse community members
  • Basic data collection and documentation skills
  • Willingness to travel/work in field and camp conditions, including during emergencies
  • Fluency in local language; basic English an advantage
  • Respectful, patient, and empathetic approach when working with vulnerable households and children
  • Good report-writing and documentation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in emergency contexts and travel to field/camp locations
  • Strong interpersonal and community engagement skills
  • Mainstream protection, accountability, gender, disability, and environmental protection
  • All documents guiding implementation, such as budgets, DIPs, and projections, are prepared, updated, and used correctly
  • Ensure needs assessments and surveys are conducted, data analyzed, and suggestions made for appropriate interventions as needed.
  • Regular monitoring and reporting of project implementation.
Staff Management
  • Line manages the staff(s) of the assigned project(s), including day-to-day management, development and training etc.
  • Take responsibility for discussing job expectations; appraise performance against set objectives regularly.
  • Overall responsibility for staff work plans, vacation schedules, and development activities, and maintain a professional and open relationship with team members, promoting a strong spirit and providing oversight and guidance to allow for successful team performance.
  • Staff coaching and technical supervision for their development.
Coordination And Networking
  • Actively participate in camp sectoral meetings to ensure WV programming information is shared and requests for cluster mechanisms are responded to.
  • Keep and share information from NGO meetings, government correspondence, and internal World Vision Lessons Learned.
  • Ensure that World Vision is represented in coordination forums and review meetings.
  • Foster formal government at all levels and community engagement and coordination
Financial Management
  • Manage the DRR assignment project and ensure all expenses are according to budget and meet donor standards for financial management, including accountability and good governance.
  • Manage the program budget through the passing of timely orders, the preparation of monthly forecasts, and the monitoring of expenditure.
Spiritual Leadership
  • Exhibit spiritual maturity, integrity, and a dynamic personal sense of life calling
Knowledge, Skill & Experience
Required Education, training, license, registration, and/or Certification:
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Science, Development Studies, or related field
  • Minimum 1–2 years of field-level experience in community work, humanitarian response, or DRR programming
  • Familiarity with camp settings, CiC/Site Management structures, and community mobilization approaches preferred
  • Local candidates or those familiar with the project area strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of DRR & Climate Change Adaptation Intervention, System Strengthening & Networking, Livelihood, Group Management, etc.
  • Reporting and accounting experience needed
  • Experience in project implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and report writing.
  • Good at communication, interpersonal skills, and cross-cultural sensitivity.
  • Familiar with the various tools used in the field for program monitoring
  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written)
  • Knowledge of MS Office, websites, Outlook, and Lotus Notes
