Job summary

Payscale seeks a Director of Security Engineering & Operations to direct and lead the Security Engineering and Security Operations teams, setting strategy while remaining hands-on in architecture, tooling, and incident command. You will own the MDR relationship and drive maturity, performance, and roadmap across corporate, cloud, and hosting environments.

This is a hands‑on leadership role reporting to the CISO, with responsibilities spanning threat detection, incident response, vulnerability

Qualifications

• Expert, hands-on knowledge of security engineering and security operations.
• Experience owning or managing MDR or MSSP vendor relationships.
• Strong cloud security and zero-trust architecture background.
• Scripting in PowerShell, Python, or Bash; detection‑as‑code and infrastructure‑as‑code experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct, manage, and lead the security engineering and security operations teams.
• Set strategy and measurable roadmaps for both functions with quarterly/annual objectives.
• Mentor engineers and analysts and drive performance reviews and career development.
• Own on-call rotation and after-hours escalation paths.
• Lead design, implementation, and hardening of security controls across environments.
• Drive security automation and integrations to scale coverage.
