You will supervise multiple teams across platform, backend, data, and ML, focusing on scalable, reliable systems and fast delivery to diverse markets.

• Requires 13+ years in software development and 5+ years in leadership.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in CS/CE/ML or related field.

Job Title: Director - Engineering Department, Level: International Location: Onsite, Bangalore Work Type: Full time

Job Summary: As the Director of Engineering - International, you will lead the transformation of JioHotstar Engineering into a Global Tech Operation. The vision is to have a feature rich offering for our International users equivalent to our India offering while enabling the engineering teams across the organization to develop, verify and ship features efficiently.

About the team: JioHotstar's world-record-breaking streaming platform serves audiences across India, the UK, Singapore, Canada, and other international markets. Our International team builds the technology that enables global expansion, powering region-specific experiences while leveraging a common platform architecture. You'll work on subscriber growth platforms, market-specific product innovations, and scalable frameworks that support diverse business and content requirements across geographies. This is a unique opportunity to work across the entire technology stack, contribute to globally visible products, and directly influence JioHotstar's international growth journey. Your work will help shape how millions of users around the world experience premium entertainment.

Key responsibilities:

• Define and execute the engineering vision and roadmap for International, aligned with JioHotstar’s product and business strategy.
• Build and lead high-performing engineering teams across platform, backend, client, data, and machine learning disciplines.
• Enable multi tenancy in certain sub-systems to make our International offering equally feature rich
• Build tooling and processes to enable all engineering teams to develop, verify and deploy globally with the same ease as they do for India
• Ensure high standards of reliability, scalability, security, observability, cost efficiency, and engineering quality.
• Partner closely with Product, Design, Content, Advertising, Data Science, Business, and external partners to shape strategy and deliver outcomes.
• Navigate ambiguity and convert broad business opportunities into clear technology platforms, execution plans, and measurable milestones.
• Foster a culture of ownership, innovation, strong technical judgment, and outcome orientation

Skills and attributes for success:

• Experience leading multiple software engineering teams and engineering managers responsible for large-scale consumer or platform products.
• Proven experience building zero-to-one products or platforms and scaling them through multiple stages of maturity.
• Strong understanding of consumer product development and the ability to balance user experience, technology, and business outcomes.
• Experience integrating with external platforms and building extensible APIs, partner frameworks, or platform capabilities.
• A strong track record of delivering complex, cross-functional initiatives involving multiple engineering and business teams.
• Ability to operate effectively in an ambiguous and rapidly evolving problem space.
• Demonstrated ability to hire, develop, and retain strong engineering talent and build effective leadership layers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical strategy and trade-offs clearly to both technical and business stakeholders.

Preferred education and experience:

Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Machine Learning with 13+ years of experience in software development and 5+ years in leadership roles
