Job summary

MatchaTalent seeks a Diamond Drilling Supervisor to lead and coordinate diamond drilling operations supporting exploration and mine development in Papua New Guinea. You will supervise crews, optimize performance, ensure safety, and maintain equipment reliability in both underground and surface environments.

The role requires strong leadership, extensive drilling experience, and the ability to operate in remote, camp-based settings with rotational rosters.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of professional diamond drilling experience within mining, mineral exploration, drilling contractors, resource development, or related industries.
• Minimum 2 years of experience supervising drilling crews or leading field-based drilling teams.
• Proven experience managing diamond drilling programs in underground and/or surface environments.
• Strong track record of achieving drilling productivity, core recovery, safety, and performance targets.
• Experience working in remote mining operations, camp-based environments, FIFO/DIDO operations, or rotational rosters.
• English communication skills required for supervision, reporting, and stakeholder coordination.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor diamond drilling crews to ensure safe, efficient drilling operations.
• Coordinate daily drilling activities, manpower allocation, equipment utilization, and schedules to meet targets.
• Monitor productivity, metreage, core recovery rates, and overall efficiency across drilling programs.
• Ensure high-quality core recovery and sample integrity, complying with geological and exploration requirements.
• Enforce health, safety, environmental, and operating procedures, promoting a strong safety culture.
• Conduct workplace inspections, hazard identifications, risk assessments, and incident investigations as required.
• Monitor drill rig performance, equipment utilization, consumables, and maintenance needs to maximize reliability.
• Prepare and submit reports on production performance, equipment status, downtime, and workforce activities.
• Collaborate with geologists, engineers, maintenance teams, contractors, and site leadership to ensure successful drilling program execution.
• Support workforce development through coaching, training, and continual improvement initiatives.
