Job description

Role Summary

The DevOps Engineer / Platform Engineer will be responsible for building, maintaining, and scaling cloud infrastructure and the Internal Developer Platform (IDP). The primary mission is to empower software engineering teams by providing secure, scalable, and highly automated self-service tools and CI/CD pipelines.

The DevOps Engineer / Platform Engineer will work closely with development teams to eliminate operational friction, optimize system reliability, and champion Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Architecture & Provisioning
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
  • Manage and orchestrate containerized workloads using Kubernetes, ensuring optimal resource utilization and cluster health.
  • Automate the provisioning and configuration of development, staging, and production environments to ensure environment parity.
CI/CD & Deployment Automation
  • Design, implement, and maintain robust, automated CI/CD pipelines to support continuous integration and frequent, reliable software deployments.
  • Partner with development teams to optimize build, test, and release workflows, reducing deployment cycle times and cognitive load on engineers.
  • Implement modern deployment strategies (e.g., Blue/Green, Canary, GitOps) to guarantee zero-downtime releases.
Observability & SRE Practices
  • Implement and manage comprehensive monitoring, logging, and distributed tracing systems across all platform layers.
  • Define and monitor critical system metrics (SLIs/SLOs) to proactively identify performance bottlenecks and system degradation.
  • Participate in on‑call rotations, respond to infrastructure alerts, and participate in blameless post‑mortems to improve system resilience.
Security & Compliance (DevSecOps)
  • Integrate automated security scanning tools, including vulnerability assessments, secret detection, and static code analysis, directly into delivery pipelines.
  • Implement and enforce strict Identity and Access Management (IAM) controls, network security policies, and secure secrets management.
  • Assist in maintaining system compliance with industry standards, including SOC 2, ISO 27001, and GDPR, through automated policy enforcement.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Developer Experience
  • Treat internal developers as the primary customers; build self‑service tooling, CLI utilities, or developer portals to improve the internal engineering experience.
  • Collaborate closely with software engineers, QA, and security teams to troubleshoot complex infrastructure or deployment issues.
  • Document infrastructure designs, runbooks, and platform architectures to promote self‑service and team transparency.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in a DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) role.
  • Hands‑on experience managing production environments in at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • A proven track record of automating manual operational workflows and managing infrastructure completely via code.
Certifications (Preferred)
  • Cloud Architecture: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional.
  • DevOps: AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional.
  • Kubernetes: Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD).
  • Infrastructure as Code: HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate.
Technical Competencies

Cloud Platforms: Strong proficiency with AWS (e.g., EC2, EKS, RDS, IAM) or equivalent services in Azure/GCP.

Containerization: Mastery of Docker and deep operational experience with Kubernetes (EKS, GKE, or AKS).

Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency with Terraform, OpenTofu, or Pulumi.

CI/CD Platforms: Hands‑on experience with GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD, or Flux.

Scripting and Programming: Strong coding skills in Python, Go, or advanced Bash scripting for automation.

Observability: Experience configuring and using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Datadog, or New Relic.

Networking and Linux: Solid understanding of Linux system administration, TCP/IP networking, DNS, load balancing, and SSL/TLS.

Skills and Competencies
  • Problem‑Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to debug complex, distributed cloud architectures.
  • Collaboration: A team player who enjoys working across departments to solve shared engineering challenges.
  • Adaptability: Eagerness to learn new technologies and adapt to rapidly evolving cloud-native ecosystems.
  • Communication: Ability to clearly explain infrastructure requirements and guide developers on platform best practices.
