Job summary

Aurecon Group is seeking a Civil Designer in Manila to shape transport infrastructure by providing design support for rail and mass-transit projects. Based in our Global Design Centre, you will support Sydney Trains projects and collaborate with teams in Australia to deliver high‑quality, innovative design solutions.

Key tasks include producing coordinated drawings, 3D models, and documentation, interpreting requirements, and driving digital tooling adoption to improve efficiency across Manila

Qualifications

• Proven experience preparing civil, utility or combined-services designs for rail and mass-transit projects.
• Strong capability in AutoCAD and Civil 3D, including producing and managing coordinated plans, profiles, sections and 3D models.
• Understand rail corridors, services coordination and interfaces; translate inputs into clear drawings and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare coordinated civil, utility and combined-services drawings and models for rail and mass-transit projects per requirements, standards and Aurecon processes.
• Develop accurate plans, profiles, sections, construction details and 3D models using AutoCAD, Civil 3D and related tools.
• Interpret engineering requirements, survey data, standards and design inputs into clear design outputs.
• Collaborate with engineers and designers across Manila and Australia to resolve interfaces and deliver coordinated designs.
• Ensure outputs meet quality, safety-in-design, design-assurance and Australian standards.
• Contribute to design reviews and look for efficiency improvements through digital tools.
• Maintain records of deliverables and revisions in document-management systems.
• Identify repetitive tasks that could be automated with AI/digital tooling.
• Promote digital workflows and continuous improvement within the team.

What will you do?

As a Civil Designer at Aurecon, you will play a key role in shaping the future of transport infrastructure by providing design support for a wide range of rail and mass transit projects. Based in our Global Design Centre (GDC) Manila, you will initially support multiple Sydney Trains projects, with opportunities to contribute to diverse rail and infrastructure projects across Australia. This role is integral to delivering high-quality, innovative, and sustainable design solutions that align with Aurecon’s purpose of bringing ideas to life to imagine and co-create a better future for people and the planet.

• Prepare coordinated civil, utility and combined-services drawings and models for rail and mass-transit projects in accordance with project requirements, standards and Aurecon design processes.
• Develop accurate plans, profiles, sections, construction details and 3D models using AutoCAD, Civil 3D and other relevant design platforms.
• Interpret engineering requirements, survey information, standards, RFIs and multidisciplinary design inputs and translate them into clear design documentation.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers and other team members across Manila and Australia to resolve interfaces and deliver coordinated designs.
• Ensure design outputs meet applicable quality, constructability, safety-in-design, design-assurance and compliance requirements, including Sydney Trains, TfNSW and other Australian standards.
• Contribute to design and drawing reviews, identifying opportunities to improve quality, consistency, constructability and delivery efficiency.
• Maintain accurate records of design deliverables, revisions, models, project inputs and progress within controlled document-management systems.
• Identify repetitive design and drafting activities that could be improved through AI, automation or better digital workflows.
• Trial and apply appropriate digital tools to drawing reviews, standards checking, document production, data management and design coordination.
• Challenge existing processes constructively, share improvements with the wider team and help build a more digitally capable rail design team.

• Proven experience preparing civil, utility or combined-services designs for rail and mass-transit projects.
• Strong capability in AutoCAD and Civil 3D, including the production and management of coordinated plans, profiles, sections, construction details and 3D models.
• Sound understanding of rail corridors, services coordination, drainage, earthworks, access, track formation and road/rail interfaces.
• Ability to interpret engineering requirements, survey information, standards, RFIs and design inputs and convert them into clear, accurate drawings, models and technical documentation.
• Understanding of constructability, safety in design, multidisciplinary coordination and design-assurance requirements.
• Strong attention to detail, drawing control and management of revisions and design deliverables.
• Competence with Microsoft 365 tools, particularly Excel, Word, Teams and SharePoint, and familiarity with common data environments and controlled document-management systems.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with geographically dispersed teams across Manila and Australia.
• Strong interest in using AI, automation and digital tools to improve design quality, efficiency and consistency, with the ability to identify repetitive tasks that could be automated.
• A continuous-learning mindset, willingness to trial new workflows and ability to learn and apply new digital platforms quickly on live projects.

Good To Have

• Experience working to Sydney Trains, TfNSW and other Australian project standards, particularly on projects in NSW and the ACT.
• Experience with Navisworks, Revit, ProjectWise, Power BI, Power Automate, Dynamo, Python or similar automation and digital-delivery tools.
• Interest or experience in applying AI to drawing reviews, standards checking, document production, data management and design coordination.
