Job summary

Axos Bank seeks an Embedded QA lead for a data engineering delivery team. You will own quality from refinement through release, lead engineers, and be the single point of accountability for test coverage and release readiness. You will apply shift-left testing, plan QA effort, mentor QA engineers, and design data validation across SSIS, dbt, Fivetran, Python ingestion and Databricks pipelines. You will report QA status to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in QA testing, including 3+ years in data warehousing and 2+ years leading testers.
• Strong SQL for data validation and profiling; working Python for test scripting.
• Hands-on experience testing ETL/ELT pipelines (SSIS, dbt, Fivetran or Python).
• Experience with agile sprint planning and risk-based test coverage.
• Experience defect management in Azure DevOps; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Act as QA owner for one delivery team; participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily scrum, review and retrospective.
• Apply shift-left testing; define acceptance criteria and test design with devs and BAs before development.
• Plan and estimate QA effort per work item; commit QA capacity at sprint planning.
• Lead and mentor QA engineers; review test designs, queries and defect reports.
• Design and execute data validation across SSIS, dbt, Fivetran, Python ingestion and Databricks.
• Own quality gates; ensure accuracy, latency, performance and security gates before promotions.
• Log, triage and track defects in Azure DevOps; communicate impact to stakeholders.
• Track team quality metrics and drive continuous improvement.
• Coordinate knowledge transfer during transitions; maintain test assets and runbooks.
• Lead root cause analysis for post-production defects; implement preventive coverage.
• Utilize AI/LLM tools to accelerate test case generation; validate outputs.
• Communicate QA status, risks and release readiness to Practice Lead and US stakeholders.
