Job summary

Thakral One Inc. is seeking a Data Migration SME to lead the migration of Trade Finance and Lending data from legacy platforms to the target system within a core banking transformation project.

You will define and execute the migration strategy, map data structures, coordinate testing and cutovers, and collaborate with product owners, solution architects, and delivery teams to ensure timely, accurate migration aligned with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on experience delivering end-to-end data migration projects in banking/financial services.
• Experience designing and presenting migration strategies to stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of Trade Finance domains (LCs, guarantees, collections, trade loans, supply chain finance, limits, margins, charges).
• Strong knowledge of Lending domains (loans, syndicated facilities, repayment schedules, interest accruals, collateral, arrears, provisioning).

Responsibilities

• Define and deliver the migration strategy, including scope, waves, cut-over planning, reconciliation frameworks, fallback procedures, and risk mitigation.
• Plan and coordinate mock migrations, dress rehearsals, and production cut-over activities, including go/no-go criteria.
• Provide regular updates on migration progress, risks, issues, and dependencies to project leadership and PMO stakeholders.
• Analyse data structures and map to the target data model for Trade Finance and Lending.
• Develop migration artefacts including mapping specs, transformation rules, data dictionaries, and runbooks.
• Design and execute reconciliation controls to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Collaborate with business users to define data requirements, resolve open transaction handling, and obtain migration sign-off.
• Support testing by defining migration test scenarios and validating outcomes.

As a Data Migration SME, you will play a critical role in a core banking transformation programme, ensuring the successful migration of Trade Finance and Lending data from legacy platforms to the target system. You will define and execute the migration strategy, working closely with stakeholders to ensure data is migrated accurately, completely, and on schedule.

What You'll Do and How You'll Succeed

Data Migration Strategy & Planning

• Define and deliver the migration strategy, including scope, waves, cut-over planning, reconciliation frameworks, fallback procedures, and risk mitigation.
• Plan and coordinate mock migrations, dress rehearsals, and production cut-over activities, including go/no-go criteria.
• Provide regular updates on migration progress, risks, issues, and dependencies to project leadership and PMO stakeholders.

Data Analysis & Mapping

• Analyse Trade Finance and Lending source system data structures and map them to the target data model.
• Develop and maintain migration artefacts including mapping specifications, transformation rules, data dictionaries, and runbooks.
• Conduct data profiling and quality assessments, identify issues, and coordinate cleansing activities.
• Design and execute reconciliation controls (record counts, balances, attribute validations) to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Stakeholder Engagement & Testing

• Partner with business users to define data requirements, resolve open transaction handling, and obtain migration sign-off.
• Support testing teams by defining migration test scenarios and validating outcomes.
• Collaborate with product owners, solution architects, and delivery teams to align migration activities with programme objectives.

Experience

• You have proven hands-on experience delivering end-to-end data migration projects in banking or financial services.
• You have experience designing and presenting migration strategies to stakeholders.
• You have strong knowledge of Trade Finance domains (LCs, guarantees, collections, trade loans, supply chain finance, limits, margins, charges).
• You have strong knowledge of Lending domains (loans, syndicated facilities, repayment schedules, interest accruals, collateral, arrears, provisioning).

Technical Expertise

• You have excellent SQL and data analysis skills.
• You have experience with data profiling, quality assessment, and reconciliation methodologies.
• You have the ability to translate business requirements into mapping specifications and transformation rules.
• You have knowledge of CASA data domains (preferred).
• You have experience with core banking or trade finance platforms such as Finastra, Temenos, FLEXCUBE, or Finacle (preferred).
• You have experience with ETL/migration tools (Informatica, Talend, SSIS, Azure Data Factory).
• You have familiarity with Python or scripting for validation and automation.
• You have exposure to Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies in large-scale programmes.
• You understand regulatory, audit, and compliance requirements for migration evidence and sign-off.
