hs financial technologies is seeking a Data Engineer to support enterprise ETL processes, build data pipelines from external sources, and migrate legacy workflows to scalable code. The role combines development and operations with Python-based solutions and Jupyter notebooks.

You will collaborate with business and technical teams across a distributed global unit, document processes, and pursue continuous improvement while aligning with U.S. business hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems.
• Strong Python, SQL and Bash skills.
• Experience with data-science libraries: Pandas, NumPy, SciPy.
• Advanced Excel and data handling capabilities.
• Ability to read XML-based schemas and workflows.
• AWS experience with Kibana and APM for troubleshooting.
• OO programming, design patterns and core software concepts.
• Experience in agile development and production deployments.
• Financial services knowledge is a plus.

Job Description

The Data Engineer supports the Product and Portfolio Support Team in the development, deployment, and maintenance of enterprise-wide Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) processes. This role helps design, build, and support data pipelines that transform information from external vendors and clients into formats suitable for internal applications.

The role also includes developing and maintaining Python-based solutions, including Jupyter notebooks, and supporting the migration of legacy processes into standardized, scalable code.

The position contributes to the transition from legacy operations to modern data platforms and works closely with business, technical, and support teams to maintain critical ETL workflows. It also requires analysing and interpreting data to support operational and business needs.

The role combines operational support with project-based work, including internal initiatives and cross-functional collaboration. Responsibilities include contributing to process documentation, automation solutions, and continuous improvement across data engineering practices.

The position operates within a distributed global team and follows defined service level requirements, including coverage aligned with U.S. business hours.

Job Responsibilities

• ETL Development – Design, build, test, and evolve ETL pipelines using Python and Jupyter notebooks.
• Data Transformation – Convert raw data streams from multiple external sources into formats suitable for ingestion by proprietary applications.
• Documentation – Produce and maintain clear, detailed documentation for both new and existing ETL processes.
• Support & Incident Response – Deliver rapid, SLA-compliant assistance for tickets and incidents, with the ability to rapidly push fixes to production when needed.
• Continuous Improvement – Keep up-to-date with industry best practices, tools, and emerging technologies relevant to ETL and data engineering, and apply them to the team's workflows.
• Communication - Translating complicated problems and processes into streamlined solutions for various internal audiences, including senior management.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python; experience with SQL and Bash is also required.
• Solid knowledge of data-science libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and SciPy.
• Advanced Excel skills, including complex formula construction.
• Ability to read and interpret XML-based schemas and understand XML-based workflows.
• Experience and knowledge using AWS technologies including Kibana and APM for troubleshooting.
• Deep grasp of object‑oriented programming, design patterns, and core software engineering concepts.
• Experience in agile software development, release and change management, and frequent deployments into production environments.
• Experience in the financial services industry and some knowledge of financial products is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
