Job summary

Selectcare Philippines Inc. is seeking a data/actuarial assistant to support the Actuarial Manager and Data Manager in research, data gathering, and statistical analysis to prepare experience reports and dashboards.

The role involves compiling demographic data, analyzing claims, producing financial data, supporting audits, and ensuring HIPAA compliance. Strong programming and data visualization skills are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, finance or comparable field of study.
• Programming knowledge is required.
• Experience with an HMO or health insurance company is preferred but not required.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
• Ability to write reports and articles in prescribed style/format.
• Ability to present information to top management or boards.

Responsibilities

• Compile demographic information and health histories to develop experience/utilization reports.
• Extract data from databases to analyze claims for renewals or information requests; compute loss experience.
• Develop data for financial reports and calculate IBNP factors; prepare MLR reports and Experience Refund Statements.
• Assist with annual audit, accreditation, and reinsurance activities by supplying documents.
• Work on rate filings for regulatory agencies and compliance reports (RxDC, Gag Clause).
• Adhere to HIPAA and safeguard health information confidentiality and security.
• Apply data tools to enhance company performance and manage utilization.

About the role

Assists the Actuarial Manager and Data Manager in conducting research, compiling information, and performing mathematical & statistical analysis to prepare experience reports and performance dashboards.

Key responsibilities

• Compile demographic information and health histories of members in client organizations to develop experience and utilization reports
• Extract information from the company's database to analyze claims processed for clients whose contracts are due for renewal or clients requesting information, and calculate loss experience based on plan history
• Develop information for the company's financial reports, extract data from the company's database to calculate IBNP (incurred but not paid) factors, and prepare MLR reports and Experience Refund Statements
• Assist with the annual audit, accreditation, and reinsurance activities by retrieving information and documents requested by auditors, surveyors and reinsurers
• Work on rate filings for regulatory agencies and annual compliance reports such as Prescription Drug Data Collection (RxDC) and Gag Clause Prohibition Compliance Attestation
• Adhere to the company's policies and procedures regarding compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and safeguard the confidentiality, privacy and security of health information
• Apply data tools to enhance company performance and manage utilization

About you

• Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, finance or comparable field of study from an accredited college or university
• Work experience with an HMO or health insurance company is preferred but not required
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
• Ability to write reports and articles that conform to prescribed style and format
• Ability to effectively present information to top management and/or boards of directors
• Ability to apply mathematical and statistical operations to such tasks as frequency distributions, correlation techniques, sampling and credibility theory, factor analysis and trend analysis
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Proficiency at handling databases, spreadsheets, data visualization and report software and applications
• Programming knowledge is required
