Job summary

Meralco PowerGen (MGEN) is seeking a Corporate Finance Manager to lead and support critical financing, investment, and corporate transactions. You will develop robust financial models, evaluate investment opportunities, and prepare Board-ready recommendations.

The role requires 5–7 years in transaction advisory or corporate finance, strong Excel and analytics skills, and the ability to convey complex financial information clearly to executives. Power industry experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related quantitative field; a Master's degree or professional certifications are highly preferred.
  • Extensive experience in financial modeling and economic analysis, including development and presentation of financial projections.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in transaction advisory, investment banking or corporate finance, with a focus on financial modeling, due diligence, and corporate finance.
  • Power industry experience is a significant plus; strong analytical skills and the ability to present complex data clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and/or support strategic, financing, and investment initiatives including valuation, capital raising, mergers and acquisitions, project financing, and other corporate transactions.
  • Develop robust financial models to support strategic initiatives and business planning.
  • Apply valuation methods (e.g., DCF) to evaluate opportunities and quantify risks.
  • Prepare investment decks and recommendations for senior management and the Board.
  • Present complex projections and sensitivities to management and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with management to assess impacts on projects' financial performance and viability.
  • Ensure models are well-structured, auditable, and up-to-date with macro conditions and agreements.

Job description

The Corporate Finance Manager is primarily responsible for leading and/or supporting the company’s strategic, financing, and investment initiatives including valuation, capital raising, mergers and acquisitions, project financing, and other corporate transactions. The position holder is primarily responsible for evaluating investment opportunities to assist senior management and the Board to make investment decisions, and will lead and/or support capital raising and project financing initiatives of the company.

  • Develop a robust and flexible financial modelto support strategic initiatives, investment decisions, and business planning.
  • Apply various valuation methods such as discounted cash flow to evaluate investment opportunities.
  • Develop a comprehensive data book that will serve as the verifiable basis for the financial models, ensuring data integrity and traceability.
  • Quantify the impact of key risks such as changes in volume and price, fuel and other cost inputs, interest and exchange rates, project delays and cost overruns, and various financing scenarios.
  • Present complex financial projections, detailed financial sensitivities, and comparable analyses in a clear, concise presentation format to effectively convey key messages and insights to management and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and interact with management to identify unfolding events and conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses of their impact on projects’ financial performance or economic viability.
  • Prepare investment decks and recommendations for senior management and the Board.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure that financial models are timely and accurately updated based on current macroeconomic conditions and reflect project economics based on the latest commercial agreements.
  • Ensure that financial models are developed with a clear, logical structure that allows for easy and efficient checking for accuracy and auditability.
Capital Raising and Project Financing
  • Supports execution of equity and debt capital market transactions.
  • Assist in the review of financing agreements and related transaction documents.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related quantitative field. A Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA) are highly preferred.
  • Must have extensive experience in financial modeling and economic analysis, including the development and presentation of financial projections.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in transaction advisory, investment banking or corporate finance, with a strong focus on financial modeling, due diligence, and corporate finance.
  • Thorough understanding of principles and techniques for enterprise and project valuation, investment and risk management, deal structuring, and project finance. Experience in the field of transaction advisory, investment banking, or corporate finance is essential. Power industry experience is a significant plus.
  • Superior analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights.
  • Expert proficiency in financial modeling (e.g., advanced Excel functions, scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis).
  • Strong presentation and communication skills (written and verbal), capable of conveying complex financial information clearly and concisely to non-finance audiences and executive leadership.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

  • Strong leadership potential with the ability to guide and mentor junior analysts.
