The manager strengthens accounting controls and resolves issues that affect the reliability of the financial statements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities. Maintain the close calendar, assign responsibilities, review journal entries, and resolve delays with corporate and property teams.
  • Oversee corporate general ledger accounting, including accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, debt, leases, payroll liabilities, and shared corporate costs. Ensure entries have clear support and appropriate approvals.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations and rollforwards. Require support for ending balances, investigate aged reconciling items, and track corrective actions through resolution.
  • Coordinate intercompany billing, allocations, settlements, and eliminations. Resolve differences across entities and support consolidated financial statements and management reporting.
  • Review financial results and explain significant changes by account, entity, and property. Identify unusual transactions, cutoff errors, classification issues, and missing accruals.
  • Partner with property accounting and operations on hospitality balances such as guest and group deposits, accounts receivable, gift cards, inventory, occupancy and sales taxes, and management or franchise fees, as applicable.
  • Apply US GAAP and company accounting policies. Research accounting issues, document conclusions for Controller approval, and maintain consistent accounting practices across the organization.
  • Coordinate audit requests, review schedules and supporting evidence, and help resolve auditor questions. Monitor proposed adjustments and implement agreed control improvements.
  • Supervise and develop accounting staff through clear assignments, workpaper review, feedback, and training. Coordinate with shared services or outsourced teams where used.
  • Improve close procedures, account ownership, ERP workflows, and reconciliation standards. Maintain segregation of duties and approval controls as processes change.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field with substantial accounting coursework.
  • At least 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years supervising staff or leading an accounting team.
  • Experience in a large hospitality organization or a comparable business with multiple locations and legal entities; strong understanding of property and corporate accounting relationships.
  • Demonstrated ownership of financial close, balance sheet review, intercompany accounting, consolidations, and audit support.
  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and financial statement preparation, with the ability to resolve complex accounting issues.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and analysis of large datasets; proficiency with an enterprise accounting system.
  • Ability to investigate discrepancies, review detailed workpapers, manage competing deadlines, and communicate accounting issues clearly to finance and operations colleagues.
  • Experience managing work and staff remotely, with reliable follow-through, organized documentation, and appropriate handling of confidential financial information.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA designation; public accounting or external audit experience.
  • Experience with hotel or restaurant accounting, hospitality reporting conventions such as USALI, and property management or point-of-sale integrations.
  • Experience with systems such as R365, Sage Intacct, Oracle, NetSuite, SAP, or hospitality accounting platforms; reconciliation tools and Excel Power Query.
  • Experience improving a close process, correcting historical account balances, integrating acquisitions, or supporting ERP implementations.
