A Copywriter is a creator and a storyteller. It is his/her role to come up with write‑ups, stories, scripts, captions, headlines, and taglines for all brief requirements in line with the direction mandated by the ACD/CD. He/she must also be able to understand the brief, produce fresh insights and innovative creative ideas/solutions to solve it, and articulate them clearly to the ACD/CD. The Copywriter must execute the ideas well across all platforms and formats, and provide sound recommendations on storytelling and copywriting during production. He/she must see the ideas through from conceptualisation all the way to post‑production, ensuring the idea remains great and is executed well, following directives from ACD/CD/ECD/CCO.
The Copywriter’s strengths are on these fundamental aspects:
Contribute in the creative process from understanding the brief to insighting to ideation to crafting and execution, to presentation and defence, to production.
Understanding the Brief: Understand the brief thoroughly at a product and strategic level to propose the best creative solution – the brief consists of the brand’s ask, the problem or opportunity, and the strategy to solve it.
Insighting: Research the brief, target market, brand landscape, interview, look at data, trends, human behaviour to discover human truths that inspire, answer or solve the brief.
Conceptualisation: Based on the brief and human truth, create a big idea that connects the brand and the insight. The big idea is the creative solution uniting all executions.
Craftsmanship and Execution: Use technical skills to produce high‑standard work for every brief – write‑ups, stories, scripts, captions, headlines, taglines – ensuring brevity, clarity and wit.
Technology & Innovation: Stay up‑to‑date with the latest tech and social platform executions, integrating trends into ideas and craftsmanship.
Production: Ensure the idea stays great from conceptualisation all the way to production.
In Promoting Culture: Be an active participant and advocate of the team/agency culture to create a positive and energetic work environment.
