Where You Fit In?

Central Testing Excellence (Reporting & Analysis- Upstream & IG and Group Reporting) Team is composed of specialists and senior analysts around 8 FTE Testing ~400-500 discrete controls per year. The Controls Assurance Specialist – Group reporting supports CTE Manager in creating a risk based financial control testing plan for majority of Group reporting SOX financial controls operated by Finance Operations.

Controls Assurance Specialist performs testing for controls around Group Reporting and other complex accounting areas. This is an Individual Contributor Role however the successful candidate will indirectly manage 2-3 direct reports within existing team and support coaching and development.

What is the Role?

Accountabilities:

  • Support the CTE Manager in ensuring Group Reporting financial controls are tested for its design and operating effectiveness for SOX purposes in line with the agreed plan.
  • Independently managing the group reporting scope planning and monitoring of Group reporting controls, timely update of testing status to the Group reporting controls focal and owners.
  • Test controls around Group Reporting and other complex accounting areas.
  • Support the CTE Manager in ensuring that any deficiencies in their process of control are appropriately documented in Metricstream in a timely manner, the deficiency tracker is up to date, detailing root causes, deep dives/retrospective reviews performed along with a clear plan for remediation which meets SOX attestation criteria.
  • Provide Shell SOX testing service to FO Process leads and for Financial Control Business leads
  • Monitor progress of Control testing activities against plan and report regularly on progress to Central Testing Unit Manager
  • Act as subject matter expert in the area of SOX testing (Group Reporting)
What We Need from You
  • Education: Graduate in Economics, Audit or Accountancy area
  • Qualified CPA and/or additional professional qualifications in Accountancy/Finance/Audit/Internal Controls (CIA, ACCA, CISA or similar) are but not mandatory.
  • Experience: 6+ years in internal controls area or audit;, 1-2+ years in similar position, supervisory experience is an advantage (also indirect)
  • Experience of planning and executing audits/test/walkthroughs
  • Experience of implementing controls frameworks within the business.
  • Experience in documenting processes and changes within the processes
  • Sox experience and experience of one or more Financial Processes desirable.
  • Knowledge of internal controls together with practical experience in this area
  • In-depth knowledge of internal/financial controls, Risk Management, SOX, Audit Standards, Corporate Governance. Accounting & Finance solid knowledge
  • Proven communication, influencing and interpersonal skill including the ability to coach, motivate and effectively manage local team as wells a multicultural virtual team.
  • Other personal skills highly appreciated is professional skepticism, lateral thinking, good analytical skills, independent, results oriented, fast paced, resourceful and proactive.
  • IT literate and solid working knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Power Point, Word, Excel, Visio)
  • English fluent oral & written
