Contracts Manager - NA Legal, Commercial Contracts
Job Summary
Genesys is seeking a Contracts Manager to support the North America Commercial Legal team with sales-related legal intake, contract triage, negotiations, drafting, and approving commercial documents and supporting commercial legal projects. This position will play a critical role in supporting the organization’s commercial and operational objectives by managing the full lifecycle of contractual relationships. This role is suited to a commercially minded contracts professional who can exercise independent judgment, manage ambiguity and complexity, move matters forward with confidence and can contribute to the development of scalable processes. The successful candidate will work closely with Sales, Deal Desk, Privacy, Security, and Legal stakeholders across NA and globally.
Key responsibilities
- Triage and manage legal requests from global sales teams, including prioritization, issue-spotting, and escalation to counsel where appropriate.
- Review, negotiate, and coordinate routine commercial documents, including NDAs, order forms, amendments, and lower-risk customer contract terms.
- Apply approved legal positions and playbooks while exercising sound judgment on when a matter requires tailored legal input.
- Identify contractual risks and recommend appropriate solutions within established guidelines.
- Drive process improvements and contribute to the enhancement of contract templates, playbooks, and operational processes.
- Escalate highly complex or non-standard legal issues to attorneys while independently resolving routine and moderately complex matters.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for business stakeholders throughout the contracting process.
- Support contract administration, intake management, approvals, matter tracking, and reporting.
- Partner with internal legal, procurement, sales, finance, and business stakeholders to support contract negotiations and ensure contractual obligations are understood and appropriately managed.
- Improve workflows, templates, guidance notes, and self-service tools for Sales.
- Support regional commercial legal projects, including process improvements, contract remediation, policy rollouts, and cross-functional initiatives.
Qualifications
Skills, Experience & Competencies
- Must be able to work hours that align with the United States.
- University degree in Business Administration, Law, Legal or Paralegal Studies, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 8+ years of experience in contract management, commercial contracting, legal operations, procurement, in-house legal support or a related legal function.
- Advanced-level proficiency in spoken and written English is required, as English is the primary language for drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and administering contracts and collaborating with global stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience with commercial contract types (MSAs, SaaS agreements, SOWs, NDAs, amendments, RFPs) and reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial agreements using established templates and playbooks.
- Experience managing multiple contracts and priorities in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
- Working knowledge of contract law principles, commercial terms, and risk mitigation.
- Familiarity with privacy, information security, and regulatory requirements affecting commercial contracts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to exercise sound judgment while escalating complex legal issues appropriately.
- Experience using Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) systems, document management tools and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Sharepoint) preferred.
