Qualifications

• Certification as a Safety Officer or equivalent qualification in occupational health and safety
• Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Safety Officer in construction
• Safety management certification required to work as a safety officer

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop relevant training programs for workers and management
• Keep record of safety-related accidents within a given time frame
• Recommend protective equipment for workers
• Supervise installation of potentially harmful equipment and disposal of hazardous substances
• Stop processes deemed harmful to workers' health
• Review and update safety policies
• Carry out or organize safety-related training
• Assess possible risks and implement preventive measures
• Demonstrate knowledge of safety legislation and procedures
• Interact effectively with workers and managers
• Coordinate and organize safety activities
