Job summary

DATEM INC. is seeking a Safety Officer to lead on-site safety across construction sites in the Philippines. You will perform regular inspections, enforce protocols, and conduct toolbox talks and drills to ensure safe work practices.

You will coordinate with management, investigate incidents, and maintain thorough safety records. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree with COSH certification and 2+ years in construction safety, with strong communication and analytical skills to drive safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
• COSH Certification.
• BOSH, First Aid, BLS, ISO 45001 are advantageous.
• DOLE-accredited OSH Practitioner Certification is a plus.
• 2+ years of relevant Safety Officer experience in construction.
• Experience in site inspections, toolbox meetings, incident investigations, and safety training.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular site inspections and identify hazards, issuing non-compliance notices as needed.
• Enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Organize toolbox meetings, safety orientations, and emergency drills.
• Ensure workers adhere to safety requirements and are trained in handling equipment.
• Coordinate with the Project Manager and Safety Supervisor on site concerns.
• Investigate accidents and near-misses; document findings and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure subcontractors comply with safety policies and regulations.
• Advise on matters pertaining to on-site safety.
• Prepare safety status reports for the Safety Supervisor and Project Manager.
• Review plans for new construction from a safety perspective.
• Maintain records of inspections and incidents for safety monitoring.
• Promote a culture of safety and proactive hazard reporting.
• Ensure compliance with OSH legal requirements.
• Liaise with DOLE, DENR, DOH, and other authorities.
• Assist in audits and inspections (internal/external, DOLE safety audits).
• Assist inspectors during EHS inspections with OSH reports.
