Job description
Overview

Rostro de Cristo (RdC) is an international and intercultural solidarity program with more than 35 years of experience inspiring a commitment to a faith that works for justice by bringing people together on the margins in the spirit of mutuality, learning, and service. For its first 35 years, RdC operated in Ecuador, hosting year-long volunteers, week-long retreats and working to serve the communities in which they lived. RdC now works in the Dominican Republic as a strategic partner of ASCALA (Asociación Scalabriniana al Servicio de la Movilidad Humana), promoting and safeguarding the rights of migrant communities, especially Haitians and Dominicans of Haitian descent. Their work includes legal aid, education, health and social services, community development, women’s empowerment, and entrepreneurship training.

Position Summary: RdC seeks a mission-driven, creative, and highly organized Associate for Communications and External Engagement to lead and coordinate the organization’s communications, marketing, advancement and alumni outreach efforts. This full-time role advances RdC’s mission by deepening engagement with stakeholders and increasing visibility and impact across diverse platforms and audiences. The ideal candidate will combine storytelling with technical proficiency in data management, digital tools, and communication systems.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Associate will collaborate with staff in the U.S. and fellows in the Dominican Republic to steward and expand the RdC community—including program alumni, donors, partners, and prospective participants.

Responsibilities
  • Primary Area of Responsibility – Communications & Marketing
  • Develop and implement an annual communications and marketing strategy in close collaboration with the RdC Executive Director and advisors.
  • Create and manage compelling and consistent content across platforms, including the website, social media, newsletters, and donor communications.
  • Coordinate with external vendors, including web designers and printers, to support digital and print projects.
  • Manage marketing and recruitment efforts for RdC’s Retreat Immersion Program, Fellowship Program, and future initiatives, including:
  • o Overseeing registration and representing RdC at recruitment and networking events
  • o Expanding outreach to new and diverse target audiences of prospective program participants
  • Represent RdC at national events and conferences to expand awareness and impact, including Ignatian Family Teach-in for Justice, Catholic Social Ministries Gathering (biannual), and diocesan Mission Coop Programs.
  • Maintain and analyze marketing data (email engagement, social media reach, website traffic) to inform strategy and improve audience engagement.
  • Strengthen communication between U.S.-based school partners and the hosting team in the Dominican Republic.
  • Secondary Areas of Responsibility
  • 1. Advancement Support
  • Assist in executing donor communications and annual appeals (3–4 per year), including copywriting and campaign logistics.
  • Support the creation of an annual report and ongoing donor acknowledgments.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor data in coordination with the Executive Director.
  • 2. Alumni Engagement
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for RdC alumni.
  • Organize virtual and regional alumni gatherings, as well as triannual reunion weekends in coordination with the alumni reunion committee.
  • Maintain and enhance the alumni database, including contact profiles and engagement history.
  • Develop alumni-focused communications and cultivate alumni as ambassadors, supporters, and partners.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Deep understanding of and commitment to the mission and values of Rostro de Cristo.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a creative and strategic mindset.
  • Strong planning and project management skills with the ability to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Experience with digital communications tools including social media platforms, email campaign platforms, and website management (e.g., Mail Chimp, WordPress).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Commitment to professional development and teamwork.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically (for conferences, meetings, etc.) 3–4 weeks annually and internationally (1–2 trips per year). Work hours include occasional evenings and weekends.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, nonprofit management, or a related field.
  • Experience with donor and alumni databases (e.g., Salesforce).
  • Familiarity with RdC or similar faith-based mission and service organizations.
  • Fluency in Spanish. Conversational fluency in Haitian Kreyol a plus!
Location & Logistics

This position is a hybrid role primarily based in the Boston metro area. The Associate will coordinate with the Executive Director to meet between 6-8 days a month in the office in Braintree, on-site at events, or in the Dominican Republic.
