A Claims Adjuster is responsible for evaluating insurance claims to determine the extent of the company's liability. This includes investigating claims, verifying coverage, negotiating settlements, and ensuring timely resolution in accordance with policy terms and company procedures.
Responsibilities
- Review and investigate insurance claims (property, auto, liability, etc.)
- Gather and analyze evidence such as photos, police reports, or witness statements
- Verify policy coverage and determine liability
- Calculate appropriate claim settlements based on findings
- Negotiate with claimants, policyholders, or legal representatives
- Prepare reports and maintain accurate documentation of all claim activities
- Coordinate with field adjusters, legal teams, and third-party service providers
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred but not always required)
- Prior experience in insurance or claims handling is an advantage
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficient in computer systems and claim management software
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
