Job summary

Manulife John Hancock is seeking a Chief Actuary in the Philippines, Manila area, to oversee reserves, capital adequacy, and regulatory compliance. The role leads a high-performing actuarial team and serves as a trusted advisor to the Board, CFO, and senior management.

The incumbent will guide capital strategies, manage risk, and provide independent actuarial advice on reserves, solvency, and capital adequacy while supporting enterprise-wide strategy and business development.

Qualifications

• Fellow of the Actuarial Society of the Philippines (FASP) or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA).
• At least 10 years of experience in roles of increasing responsibility.
• Strong understanding of IFRS and Philippine Statutory accounting.
• Ability to build and lead a team of 20+ actuaries and analysts.
• Proven ability to think strategically, drive changes and overcome obstacles.
• Strong communication skills in both verbal and written forms.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with different departments.

Responsibilities

• Provide actuarial valuation under IFRS, PFRS and Statutory bases.
• Provide MIS, analysis and decision support to management.
• Identify earnings drivers and trends to inform senior management.
• Own capital management framework including RBC solvency and capital deployment decisions.
• Present results and insights to the Board and regulators.
• Lead a team of 20+ actuaries and analysts.
• Support growth initiatives, product launches, and regulatory changes.
